Today was my second time ordering food from Georgia Peach. I knew the food would be great. However, the customer service, again left a lot to be desired. There was no greeting or smile from the first person I encountered. My first visit to Peach was a week ago, right after church. That day we walked in and met the first lady at the counter. No greeting , no smile, no nothing. Since there was no line I had time to read the sign to see what was available. There was no instructions on how to order my meal and the lady at the counter was no help. I told her what I wanted. She said that I had to move down counter to the next person and give her my sides order. There was no thank-you or I appreciate your business. Nothing!!! The next young lady (the one with the braids) never greeted me or smiled at me. The first lady yelled to her what sides I wanted. When I got to the register, again no greeting. My friend and I chose to sit at the bistro tables and eat our meal. The food was delicious!!!! Today was a repeat of last week except there was line. The restaurant opens at 12pm. we arrived at 11:50am. We killed some time by walking to the grocery store across the parking lot. when we got back to the restaurant there was a line. I ordered the exact same meal that I had last week, catfish, mac n cheese and yams . This time the girl with the braids took my order. I was told that there would be a 15 to 20 minute wait for catfish. I was instructed to give my sides order to the lady at the register, which I did. No one time did anyone give me a smile or a greeting. So, I paid for my order and waited. It was hot outside and therefore it was really warm in the restaurant. I walked over to the bistro table were my companion was seated and waited while she placed her order. I spoke to some other church members who in attendance and had ordered their meals. I again asked the girl with the braids how long my order would be. She seemed irate that I asked a second time. Her response was that it would be 15-20 minutes from the time I paid for my meal. A couple of minutes later, the fish came out and they called my name. I'm saying all of this because this is a BLACK Business, patronized by mostly BLACK people and we deserve better!!! Why not a pleasant greeting or a smile. After all, if it were not for customers they would have no business at all!!! My companion commented on the lack of customer service and I felt embarrassed. However, the food made it all better. I suggest that the owners or management at this location improve the customer service or replace the current staff with people who know how important good customer service is. A smile or greeting makes all the...
Read moreFirst, I love supporting black owned businesses. This was my second time coming here. The first time the food was decent and staff were friendly.
I decided to bring my family, and the experience sucked. I went to place the order at the first counter where the menu is located, and was told that I needed to order at the register because the menu item was still being prepared. I went on to order the other items and the girl taking the order just stared at me. My wife asked her if everything needed to be ordered at the register, and she said yes. My thing is, instead of looking at me like she is stupid, she should have communicated the order process better.
As we turned to go to the register, the 4 or 5 other staff members began hysterically laughing. Ghetto at the least. They were laughing so loud that my children felt like they were laughing at us. I’m use to this type of ignorance in a lot of black owned establishments but I don’t blame the owner, I blame the manager. When people don’t work hard to build a business, and are just part of the moving pieces, they are less likely to care about being professional. That’s what makes me laugh. They don’t realize they are the face of that business and their behavior affects whether or not that business will gain or lose sales.
There’s a picture hanging that says “don’t eat where you won’t get hired” and for me I won’t eat where I feel disrespected. I’d rather go to a 5star restaurant that wouldn’t hire me and get a great experience than to patron a place where my family feels uncomfortable. Granted they could have been laughing at something that had nothing to do with us, but when my kids notice something like that - I have a problem. After all of this, they forget to put one of my items in the bag. Instead of all that cackling, they should have been focused on double checking the order.
My family is from the south, and southern hospitality was not present. I won’t be back to this location (Havenwood road), and really don’t think I’ll try the other locations. $60 bucks for a terrible experience is enough. Ya’ll patron...
Read moreAfter getting off work, I placed an online order through their Toast app, as I’ve frequently done since this location opened. I arrive at the restaurant and went to the counter to pick up my food. There were two young ladies near the front; one saw me walk up but was on a ladder, finishing hanging up Christmas decorations, while the other was just hanging around, with her back to the counter, just chatting away and not even looking to see if there was a customer there.
I stood directly in front of the cash register and waited, staring at the two women, a hungry, paying customer who was just trying to be handed his food (saw it sitting right on the counter, just beyond where they were talking).
Finally, they broke up their huddle (by now, there was another dude who had also walked up to the counter), and the one closest to the register eventually saw me standing there waiting and caught my growing, impatient stare.
Me: Hi!! Her: Hi (looking at me like I just inconvenienced her) Me: I’m just standing here waiting for someone to wait on me. Her: — No apology for making me wait — Are you picking up? Me: Yes Her: The name? Me: Smallwood Her: (reaches over to the bag that had been sitting there the entire time, hands it to me — with NO “sorry for your wait” or a “Thank you” — then walked away and went about her business 🤷🏽♂️
C’mon, Georgia Peach Management. I truly want to continue to support a Black-owned business, and your food is terrific, but you HAVE to fix your customer service and train your workers better than this....
