Good Day, Sunny’s has reopened and my family and I was there the first day. It has been my favorite go to place for about 15 years. Recently it closed for about two days. This was for a violation of a health department code. This is the first in the 15 years since I have been frequenting Sunny's. Unfortunately, it is located next to a closed supermarket and since this closing, the staff at Sunny’s has worked continuously to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment. That’s awesome because most neighborhoods can’t control the effects from the closing of a supermarket. This is what I have experienced in the past 15 years. The food is great. The prices are very reasonable and competitive. The quality sets the bar high. There is a wide variety of selections. The eggs are cook properly, not overcooked or burnt. The omelets are hearty, whether its western, veggie, ham, sausage, etc. There is a variety of breakfast sandwiches, chicken and waffles, you name it. The subs are awesome, great choices and extra meat is not required. There is good fish, shrimp, scallops, crab cakes and clams. The chicken is to die for. It is seasoned with herbs, nicely floured, but it’s not sprinkled to death with season-all type salt. Then they have a honey sauce option that they dip the chicken in, that’s a customer favorite. But the secret is the Sunny sauce that cannot be duplicated. Everyone loves the Sunny sauce and every carryout tries to duplicate it. For those who are trying to eat healthy, there are salads, grilled chicken and fish, turkey choices, rice, and greens. But this is not the best thing about the carryout/eat in. It’s the staff. The owner listens to the desires of the customer and tailors his menu to the needs, wants and the concerns of its patrons. They are patient, friendly, helpful, and quick service. The owner has given back to the community in so many ways. They have been instrumental in supplying catering services and donating funds with a kind heart. There is a reason they have been voted Baltimore’s Best. It’s because of the great chicken but also the friendly and personable...
Read moreI drove all the way across town from White Marsh and I was sadly disappointed. Seriously, every video I looked at for best chicken box in Baltimore had Sunny's on the list so you can say my expectations were sky high. Plus I grew up in the Baltimore suburbs (Windsor Mill) and was craving a good chicken box and I haven't lived on the East side for too long, so I am finding my way. ANYHOW, the sauce literally saved my box. The food was hot, fresh, and came out fast, hence the three stars. But after first bite I wanted to cry that I wasted all of my time to drive over there. The fries tasted like they used the same oil as the fish....so my fries tasted fishy (yuck!) and the seasoning on the chicken.... well I could see why some people say their chicken is seasoned well but this chicken tasted very well UNSEASONED to me. If you want well seasoned fried chicken, NY Fried chicken is way better than this. Even whatever lemon pepper mixture they put on Hip Hop chicken tastes better. Let's not forget Stokos or America's Best, although I can't say much about their seasoning I never get that "fresh" taste I got from Sunny's chicken where is tastes like the chicken wasn't cleaned before preparation (yes, I am West Indian). But if I am about to clog my arteries with fried chicken and french fries, PLEASE let it...
Read moreI visited Sunny Sub carryout yesterday and had a very disappointing experience. The usual woman who handles the counter wasn’t there, and instead, there was a man juggling two registers. When I placed my order, he accidentally forgot to give me my ticket. I went back to let him know, and to my surprise, he responded with irritation and dismissed me, insisting he had already given it to me—which he hadn’t.
I then approached the guys who prepare the food and explained the situation, mentioning that my friend was #26 and I had ordered right after her, so I was likely #27. They just laughed and didn’t take my concern seriously. I returned to the original cashier to ask again for my ticket, and he continued to be extremely rude and dismissive, brushing me off like I was a nuisance.
At that point, I decided to ask for a refund. Only then did he say I could “just tell them what I had,” but by that time, I had no interest in continuing the interaction. I repeated that I just wanted a refund, which he hesitantly processed while making unnecessary, passive-aggressive remarks.
This was an unacceptable customer service experience, and I will not be returning. If you value respectful service—especially if you are a person of color—I would strongly advise taking your...
