Rudest tour guide ever. Obviously take this review with a grain of salt as I'm sure their employees had a long day. Regardless, let me share my experience.
I arrived shortly after 4pm with a group of 6 people. After standing around for about 5 minutes as one tour left, my friend and I walked up to the tasting bar for service. Just as we made it to the bar, a different tour returned to begin their tasting. At this point, the tour guide for the returning tour announced that tour guest should circle the bar, and other patrons should step away.
So my friend and I obliged and moved towards the register. After a line of customers finished up paying (I've been standing around unattended for about 20 min now), the gentleman at the register informed me that starting at 2pm tasting are coupled with the tours. However, after he checked with the tour guide, he said I could join the group and jump in the tasting.
At this point, the tour guide absolutely ignored me. As she began pouring the first taste, I stood without a cup. The gentleman at the register noticed this and went behind the bar and grabbed a cup for me. After pouring the first taste, I stood empty handed without a sample. The guy at the register noticed this too, and went back behind the bar to offer me a sample. Upon returning the pitcher, he mentioned to the tour guide that she had missed me. She acknowledged him.
As the second sample was being poured, I moved as closely to the final person as humanly possible. The second sample came to the guest standing beside me, but my cup was yet again left empty. At this point I tossed my plastic tasting cup on the bar and walked out.
I was outright ignored by a majority of the staff, and wasn't able to sample more than one beer. I simply was not going to devote more time to their establishment, and most likely won't purchase any more beer from Atlantic during the rest of my time in New England.
Hopefully you don't have the same...
Read moreOne of my fondest memories from my visit to Acadia a year ago, and this year was visiting Atlantic Brewing Company and having a phenomenal BBQ meal, sipping on a good beer, and just really enjoying the overall vibe and atmosphere.
This place is amazing. The grounds of the brewery are like being in some mystical garden. Just beautiful and welcoming landscaping, natural rock places to sit, games for adults and kids to play and then some. The beer here is very good but just shy from being great. They are quite enjoyable but have a little way to go before they offer their own unique taste. So why am I giving this place a 5 star review? Wait till you try to food. Good lord is it delicious! We are talking about ribs where the meat just comes off, succulent meat with tons of flavor and aroma and a nice crisp rub on top. We are talking about pulled pork thats out of this world, sides that are just a perfect compliment to it all, and then some! Its truly fantastic and with a pint in your hand, this is a meal for a king and queen!
Love this place, the food with the beer, the overall laid back feel and ambience. Every time I return to Acadia, I am going to stop by here and spoil myself. Get ready to have a very enjoyable time, fantastic cuisine and a wonderful pint to compliment...
Read moreWent to our first Brewery on our way to Vermont and got hooked on the ambience so I was really looking forward to checking out a couple while in Bar Harbor. Totally different experience - the restaurant beside the brewery had closed for the season and you can't buy beers to drink, they only do tastings, apparently their location in Bar Harbor is much different but we didn't feel like heading back to pandemonium as the cruise ship was in town. Hubby didn't care for any of the beers he tried and the one he was looking forward to trying - Leaf Peepers - was sold out, the blueberry soda was excellent though so there's that. Also, the place is supposed to be pet friendly only on the patio (I asked before hubby and our golden even got out of the car) but then the young man pouring the samples said you had to drink them in the building, not sure where he expected our dog to wait or how we were supposed to taste the beers from the patio they weren't allowed on but the young lady working the cash register intervened and allowed the...
