Honestly, I wasted three to four years at this institution and I regret coming here. This school was absolutely NOT for me, I don't recommendations this place for anyone unless you're interested in becoming a nurse or something but other than that I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. If you have a problem with a professor in the humanities department don't waste your time going to the head of the department because Dr.Whitlock didn't help me at all, instead he twisted my words making it seem as if I said that I was fluent in Spanish when I did not say that, I specifically told him that I am NOT fluent in the language and that I was just okay in it and that my only issue is remembering what to say when I try to speak it. He also defined me by a letter grade in a previous Spanish I class I had taken in the spring semester of 2017, making it seem as if I'm not smart at all and he pretty much made me look dumb in from of my own mother. Aside from that Dr. Guffey is a God awful Spanish professor, if you're a student at Gordon then I highly recommend you to not take her class especially her online class, you will be setting yourself up if you do especially if you're a person of color. Dr. Guffey doesn't listen to her students, she's too quick to accuse people of cheating on her tests and quizzes, and she's overall unprofessional. Dr. Guffey is so infatuated with Spain and their proper grammar in their Spanish language that she fails to understand that the language is different in Latin America whereas there is a lot of slang. For me I learn best with how Spanish is spoken in Latin America because I feel as if I'm able to understand it more. But to add on Dr. Guffey didn't even think I could do Spanish at all given the fact that I did pretty well in Spanish I and II in high school, but of course she thinks and believes that her knowledge in the language is far better and she doesn't give students who learn it differently a chance. In my opinion I believe between her and Dr. Whitlock they both think I'm ignorant, and apparently dumb but I will prove them wrong once I go back into the spring and graduate. I thought Gordon was a great school until now, I'm highly disgusted at how some of these people think they're better than the students. I wish there was an option to give zero stars on this review because that's how disappointed I am as I student. Some people shouldn't be allowed to work in the education system and...
Read moreMy experience wasn't bad but it wasn't good either and if I had to choose which was more it would be bad. For me I was continuing my education and already had 1 degree from another school so I was already familiar with how the process works. Getting enrolled to start was horrible. Had to take a vacation day from work just to come sit at an unnecessary orientation just because it was policy. Was forced to "check a box". Complete waste of my time. Getting in touch with anyone on the phone in any office other than financial aid was nearly impossible and a few times had to drive down just to get answers to simple questions. The classes them selves were hit or miss. At the time I attended, the online classes were poorly structured and nearly everyone had near failing grades. The only good note I have is for the in person classes I took. Those were pretty good and the teachers were good people. There were some staff there that generally wanted to help but it's 50/50. Everything considered its probably a really good place for young students fresh out of high-school living on campus but if you're a working parent...
Read moreI attended Gordon State College one semester in the Spring of 2018. The class was an online class. It was interesting but the instructor was not available most of the semester. We thought there was a system issue because we didn’t hear from the instructor the first 3 days. We would ask questions in regards to the syllabus, assignments & exams and would not receive responses until afterward the due dates. The professor seemed to have too much on her plate. She was a part time instructor with other full time employment. The admission process was easy & Banner and the website was easy to navigate. I can’t speak on the financial aid process because I paid for the class out of pocket. I can say the nelnet payment plan was a breeze. I transferred the class back to Georgia Southern University to complete my...
