I thought my experiences thus far had been isolated events but I found in reading other reviews, most have experienced the same issues. I'm now seeing that it was HUGE mistake to rely on any type of advising from any staff in regards to anything because no one really knows. I've been told "next week" for 2 months in regards to the financial aid. I refuse to allow any of my money to support this. It is a mockery. I'm hearing of student sleeping in their vehicles, going hungry and everything else waiting to support themselves with student loans and financial aid money. The crazy thing is BRCC has gotten paid for their classes but we are STILL waiting on refunds. Pell grants hadn't been disbursed yet. This school is only good for high school students transitioning to university and not for adults attempting to further their education. BRCC seemed like the best option to be able to further your education and at least keep your bills paid but it's not. If they would at least give a true accurate and timely updates on financial aid status, most could plan better but you get the same BS generic answers no matter how many times you go to financial aid. This place seriously need customer service 101 or are we not considered customers? Last time I checked, I have to repay money just for attending. BRCC is the perfect example of another institution that is supposed to be for the people and has proven over the past 60 days of my life to not be. Thank you for ruining my hopes of furthering my education and causing my family way more discomfort and stress than any student should ever have to worry about. How do you expect students to focus in class and even show up if the class schedule doesn't allow them room for much else, they are hungry, concerned about where they are going to sleep, don't have books or supplies and have to make decisions to simply survive. If life makes it difficult for you to stay focused, you then take a hit on your academic record and is possibly in academic probation. And PLEASE don't attempt to speak to any one about your issues so you can find a solution, you will either encounter apathy or be subject to a defense attorney style interrogation and handed down your sentence that you are simply a whiny student that needs to get back to class and suck it up. I will no longer support this place, support any laws or bills that support this place or allow My children to attend until something has changed. This has got to stop. I will also be contacting my local politicians to do some further research into what is actually going on and why students(customers) can't get service or answers and are made to wait a ridiculous amount of time to be receive refunds but are fully expected to participate in class and have all required text books and materials. College is where ppl go to become equipped to go out and Perdue their goals, love their dreams and I find myself having to clean up more mess simply because of the gross incompetence of whomever...
Read moreThe absolute worst experience with an educational institution ever. I constantly got the run around on everything single thing and it cost me a bunch of money. And super military unfriendly. When Covid hit I was activated to go build the crash hospital in New Orleans. I got the run around on cancellation of classes until I was after the drop date despite my intentions to cancel half of my classes. I emailed and called everyone in a circle. Teachers to bursars to tech support back to teacher to bursar until I was screwed over bc I couldn’t call people 24/7 while pulling 18 shifts building a hospital. So obviously I a failed a bunch of classes bc I couldn’t do the work in them. Teachers btw ignored my intent to drop. Other then sending me to the bursars.
Everyone is friendly and utterly unhelpful. If you want something done don’t be polite like me. Be very rude and aggressive on the phone until you get what you want. I should have. I’ve been screwed out of about 1,200 dollars for not being aggressive enough and polite. Really attack who ever you talk to until you get what you want.
And the final indignity was that I was having trouble making my final payment (which was higher then it should have been bc they would drop those classes but I just accepted getting screwed at this point) so I contact the bursars office by email bc I’m Iraq at this point and can’t call during work hours and its Covid hours anyway. So they don’t respond to my emails at first then ignored problem and ask dumb questions I already told the About in my first email until once again, just like clockwork I’ve been stalled around til I missed a deadline while trying to GIVE THEM MONEY. And wow I now owe them an extra 500 dollars bc while I’m contact with me over trying to make this payment I missed a deadline and they gave it to the department of justice with 500$ collection fee. DOJ was super easy to pay by the way not hard at all. They make it easy to get screwed and hard to get what you deserve.
So don’t go, if you must go be an absolute jerk to them whenever you need an admin thing done or they will steal a bunch of...
Read moreLet me start by saying that aside from this probably being the most UNSAFE campus in the united states, it is probably the single worst community college in the United States. There are ghetto people constantly hanging around on campus, like it is some inner-city high school, smoking weed and harassing young girls. Some of the teachers are fair, but the support staff and office workers are about as ghetto as those people in the Alabama Leprachaun video. Every, I mean EVERY, single office worker has an attitude problem. I went on to LSU and then grad school and both times getting my transcritpts from the 4 classes I took at BRCC after highschool was a vision quest. No one gave two $#!T$ about me needing my transcripts by the application deadline and I had to request them each multiple times. The last time, for grad school, BRCC started using the clearing house website for transcript requests since they had so many problems getting them out, but after paying 3 times, yes 3 times and still not getting my transcripts sent to my grad school and spending countless hours on hold trying to talk to someone at BRCC I finally had to physically drive from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and talk to a bon qui qui type girl that proabably couldn't even spell transcript about my issue. Then I had to wait up there for another hour and a half, granted I arrived at 8:00 am (when they open) for a "supervisor" to show up and hour and a half late for work, with an even bigger attitude problem. The extent that these ghetto people go to, just to avoid to do there jobs is astounding. I finally got my transcripts printed out and called my grad school and explained the situation. I am dumbfounded that the state keeps throwing money into this school, knowing what I know now, I would drive an hour or two for another school just to avoid the horrible situations I endured as a...
