Went to Red Stick Spice because I heard it had a good tea assortment. This is an incorrect statement. Red Stick Spice has an extensive tea assortment!! I’ve tried a couple teas, the Gingerbread black tea, the blooming flower tea in peach, and the Fais Do Do herbal tea. Loved them all! Tip: they have eco friendly single use tea bags to make loose leaf tea easier (12 for a couple bucks)! I also picked up some local honey from my favorite local honey peeps (Baton Rouge Bee Co. ) They have so many local companies for all genre of products so this is a plus for me. The inventory doesn’t stop at spices and tea, they have vinegars, oils and popcorn with popcorn flavorings to name a couple. One thing I will mention as a critique: the store is not meant for a ton of people browsing. I went here during the Christmas shopping rush, and no matter where I positioned myself I was in someone else’s way. But I have gone back a couple other times when it’s not so crazy and it was a very nice shopping experience. They have so much to offer. If you find yourself overwhelmed easily or suffer from ‘Analysis Paralysis’ my advice is go with one thing in mind to buy... like a rub. Get a recommendation from the staff and be on your way. I have to do this with the teas or I’ll be in that place for 7 hours. Prices are...
Read moreIn my experience it’s hit or miss. I come here every few months for loose teas and spices so I can’t speak to the cooking classes. I wish the teas were organic or labeled organic if any are! I’d probably come more often if they had more organic options.
I need to say sometimes it’s such poor service. I’ve had a few positive, helpful people approach me before but haven’t seen them in a while. I want to feel good about supporting a local business but some of the employees I’ve repeatedly seen and interacted with are short and rude. The first few times it happened I brushed it off, they probably had a lot to do or a bad day. The continuous bad attitudes gave me a sour taste and maybe it’s their manager who treats them poorly so I can’t blame them for acting that way. I don’t usually ask questions when I go in, just try to get in and get out. I don’t need to feel like I’m royalty when I shop, and it’s not everyone, just certain employees seem miserable working there. Feels unwelcoming and cold. I hope they’re being treated well and paid fairly. I’ll probably be back but only because it’s close and the only small spice...
Read moreThe staff at Red Stick Spice went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my order. When I placed my online order for next day delivery, I left something off my list. I called to see if they could add it to my order and just deliver it along with the rest of my things. They said it wouldn't be a problem, to just go online and order it. I realized when I placed the forgotten item order, I had to choose in store pickup so I wouldn't be charged another delivery fee. Unfortunately, this caused a mixup at the store. The item was left behind and did not show up in my bag. I called back and asked if they could just refund the payment and the sweetheart that answered the phone was so nice! She said someone will swing by and deliver it tonight and if not you'll have it by tomorrow. 2 hrs later it was at my door and the young man who delivered it was so kind. What an awesome company! So very impressed by this local gem! I will definitely be online shopping soon and hopefully in the store when all this mess clears up :) Thank...
