We were a party of FIVE! Not 10 or 15. FIVE! This all happened on the FRIDAY evening before the Labor Day holiday. Our out of town guest's choice was Zea's. However, I had eaten here in the recent past, both for lunch as well as for dinner so I persuaded everyone to eat at Jed's because the food & service had always been superb, at least it HAD been until this night. There were only two other tables being waited on at the time of our arrival, which was at 7pm and they were NOT slammed. Therefore, I couldn't find a reason for the following failures: 1.) Red Bean entree being served lukewarm 2) SLOW service(but server was very nice) 3) food - coleslaw expired and as a result, ruined my hubby's appetite for anything else he ordered. Why serve already expired coleslaw in the first place? This is definitely not OK (are there no food quality checks being performed on a routine basis here??) 4) running OUT of TEA (really, how hard is it to MAKE a GLASS of TEA?????). On a more positive note, we ordered two Appetizers, the Debris Fries & Onion Strings and both were superb tasting and was served at the correct temp. We also ordered a total of five entrées but only two of the five entrées tasted as they should; pleasing to the palate and served at the correct temperature. Unfortunately, I'll not be bringing anyone here again on a Friday evening! Overall, our group was VERY disappointed in our dinner and the thought was expressed that they wished we HAD chosen Zea's or Monjunis Restaurants instead and as a result, we most definitely will pick a different restaurant...
Read moreI was recommended this place by a friend so for lunch I called to pick and was told 20 minutes. I show up and pay a little after the 20 minute mark. While waiting, a lady before us had already been waiting and when they brought out her bag it was the wrong order. The lady was so fed up that she didnt care that it was wrong, took it and left.
I believe they put the wrong ticket on our pohboys because there was a bag out and they were calling a name, but no one came forward. I had to ask if they could give me an estimated time when the food would be ready after 20 minutes waiting in the store. They never got back to me and took another 15 minutes to get my food. In total, I waited 55 minutes from the time I place the order to when I actually got my food.
I got a roast beef and gravy pohboy with a side of fries. They only thing hot was the gravy. The fries were cold, damp, and had no seasoning, not even salt. The pohboy was alright, Im sure it would of been fantastic if it was hot.
I will not be coming back here for awhile, may give it another shot down the line, but was truly...
Read moreA new place opened today on Jefferson between Government and Claycut. I was on the run, so I ordered to go. It's not far from my house so the food was still crisp and hot when I got there. Don't judge me. Lol
The fried pickles were good. What I would describe as a dill ranch was easy for the pickles to be dipped in, and very homemade tasting, not store bought tasting, which I prefer.
The homemade onion rings were a treat. I dipped some in the pickle dipping sauce.
The child's fish came with a large filet, and large crinkle cut fries which the kids loved.
The roast beef po boy was excellent. Leidenheimer bread and real deal shaved beef with home made aujus gravy. Not some store bought deli beef.
The pressed meatball poboy was very good and next time I'll ask for extra red gravy (sauce) on the side for dipping.
The Cuban was also pressed and perfectly melted the cheese which had an awesome pull. No shortage of meat on this sandwich either.
I saw a nice cozy bar, which I will try next time, in the restaurant. I couldn't take a picture with the number of patrons...
