The Legacy is a great apartment complex if you don't mind having extremely terrible internet (even with the brand new provider after Cox), the power going out, or having a nonfunctioning fridge. As college students, the bare minimum Internet capabilities involve being able to search Google and download files. This is near impossible on The Legacy connection. Forget trying to do anything more strenuous than that. Additionally, the power goes out multiple times every week, whether it be in a bedroom or the living room. The most recent occurrence of this happening was because I attempted to turn on the hall light and the kitchen light at the same time. That's my bad, I wasn't aware you can only do one of these at a time without the electricity for the entire room going out. These occurrences have caused multiple issues with the alarm system, which goes off seemingly at random. Usually, it's intermittent beeping, which required a specific combination of buttons to be shut off (this combination is listed nowhere; we had to complain to The Legacy before we knew what it was because they told us. You would think we would be told this could happen and how to fix it upon moving in). Just recently, the alarm held a constant, loud sound, and there was zero way to stop it until, presumably, the alarm died. Thank god I could stay somewhere else, but what if I couldn't? There was nobody to call and nothing I could do. I have a friend that had the same issue that had to SLEEP THROUGH THIS ALARM FOR THREE DAYS UNTIL MAINTENANCE FIXED IT. If you don't think that is insane that that had to happen, please rent here and find out yourself. However, the worst offense related to our fridge. We have had to put in four separate work orders since the start of the spring semester due to our fridge not working anymore. Mind you, we do not exactly have multiple hundreds of dollars to spend on groceries to replace all of the ones that went bad due to it breaking. The response to these occurrences have been particularly ridiculous. One of these times, before we put the work order in, we took all of the food out of the fridge because, obviously, it was going to spoil. We then placed the work order and the fridge was fixed (for now). However, the maintenance notes stated that the issues were "caused by the resident" because "the fridge was completely empty". Any rational human being would realize the fridge was empty when maintenance showed up because we took it out so it wouldn't sit and spoil in the fridge. In the most recent instance, a separate occasion, I put in another work order because, once again, the fridge stopped cooling. The work order was completed within a week. I came back to the apartment to discover that the issue had not been resolved at all, simply the temperature knob on the fridge had been turned to the coldest setting. Upon further inspection, the notes on the work order from maintenance read "adjusted temp". The only logical understanding I can gather from this is that the maintenance person showed up, adjusted the knob on the fridge to the coldest setting, and left. I seriously cannot fathom how this was considered an appropriate response. Especially when, earlier in the semester, we attempted to turn the knob up to this coldest setting, and they blamed US for the fridge breaking because of it. You would think they would have refrigerators FUNCTIONING down. I still do not have a full working fridge.
I feel like The Legacy is not terrible... purely in theory. The outside and amenities can be nice at times, although this is still not true most of the time. There are many other reviews with pictures of disgusting spots around the complex, so I won't get more into that. We toured the complex before signing and were very excited about it. A year later, I realize we were lied to. I genuinely do not believe that many of the 5 star reviews are real. If they are and we had remotely similar experiences, I would feel bad for these people as their standards in life must be so low. Sad. I could not imagine...
Read moreIf you are considering living here, PLEASE DO NOT waste your money. Look elsewhere, seriously! If I could give this complex zero stars, I would. Do not be mislead by the pictures of the model, as your apartment will look nothing like what you expected. The apartments look nice from a distance, but when you start to look closer you can obviously see where they cut corners. For example, I was handed the keys to an apartments that was damaged, very dirty from the recent construction work, and missing several pieces of furniture. I had very high expectations when I moved here and so far NONE of them have been met. From the very beginning of signing my lease it has been an ongoing problem (delayed move-in dates, no internet for weeks at a time, no water etc.). I was compensated for the move-in delay, but of course they had issues getting me a Visa and those too were delivered late to me. The apartments are not all what one would consider luxury. Throwing in some cheap slabs of granite countertops and laminate wood flooring and cabinets does not make it a luxury apartment. These apartments are very poorly built with cheap materials and finishes and it's very obvious when you start to look closely at the detail work in the apartments, just plain sloppy and not aesthetically pleasing at all. The maintenance staff here is very unprofessional and will come into your home, leave it dirty, not leave a notice as to what they completed in your apartment, and/or the maintenance you requested was not done or was done very poorly. I've also experienced a time where maintanace left the lights on in my apartment for hours on end after they were done and they take forever to respond to your maintenance request. I was compensated for this as well as in the form of a gift card, where that too was a problem getting it too me in a timely manner. I told the manager what time I would be there to pick up the card and was told that she would get it that morning and that it wouldn't be a problem, but of course when I get there the card was no where to be found. I even had to go to the point where I had to have the manager and maintenance do a COMPLETE walkthrough of my apartment to point out all the things that I submitted MONTHS ago on my inventory. I shouldn't have to play micromanager to make sure things get done-which they still aren't. I was also promised that everything on my inventory would be fixed, but was later informed that some of the things couldn't be done or would be done differently than what was originally planned. The management here is absolutely HORRENDOUS and lack problem solving skills. A whole new staff that actually has experience in managing luxury apartments should be hired. Clearly the current staff is not meant to serve luxury clientele. Even at the corporate level the management, where you would expect some sort of professionalism, is a complete joke (i.e. telling me that the cracks forming in my ceiling is completely normal for a new construction building and that they would only fix it one time only for it to keep occurring every season.) So was I suppose to wait for when there was mold and water stains for it to be considered a fixable problem? If this is a known problem, why hasn't there been solution to solve this problem so that this does not occur? But I'm sure they wouldn't have people in the leasing office or show potential leasers a model apartment with clearly visible cracks in the ceiling- that wouldn't make someone want to sign a lease now would it? There is also a complete lack of communication (i.e. saying they would call you back and they don't). I also didn't appreciate being singled out by the managers (regional and local) for having an extensive amount of work done on my apartment and comparing me to other residents. Like what kind of customer service is that? The amenities here are still not fully complete and the ones that are done weren't done in the time frame that...
Read moreI moved my daughter into this DISGUSTING, NON-MAINTAINED FILTHTRAP yesterday! I cannot believe they are getting away with this! I read the "clean-out" procedures that prior tenants are supposed to do upon move-out. WHAT A JOKE!! I had to go buy a brand new vacuum cleaner just to deal with the THICK DEBRIS that was all over the floor & carpets! I'm sorry, but it's impossible to fill a canister vacuum 9 times unless the floor/carpets have NEVER BEEN VACUUMED BEFORE! We also had to steam clean all of the carpeting because no human could have lived there or walked on them, especially after the prior tenants had pets that used the carpeting as their daily BATHROOM!!!! Rather than being able to just move in yesterday, 6 people spent 14.5 HOURS cleaning the apartment they were moving into! It was incredibly unfair! Yet I'm certain when we do NOT renew the lease next year (who would EVER renew here?) & she moves out, they will attempt to charge us hundreds of dollars in "cleaning fees", even though the place will be so much cleaner than when she moved in yesterday! Thanks a lot Legacy!
In addition, we were met with a mattress covered in MOLD & crushed down so completely that you could feel the bed frame underneath it. In order for her to sleep there last night, I had to order a $200 mattress from Walmart! Thanks alot Legacy!
The apartment was a miserable 75° from the moment we walked in & despite setting the thermostat to 68° & the AC running nonstop for 24 hours, it's STILL 75° in the apartment! Plus, I see all kinds of reviews about $800/month electric bills. I'm sure I can expect even more than that when an AC runs constantly without cooling ANYTHING! Thanks a lot Legacy!
I'll mention a few more items...smoke detectors open with no batteries, paint drips all over the floors & carpet (I'm sure they will attempt to charge her & her roommates when they move out), washing machine won't balance when spinning so it makes a hideous banging noise while the unit physically moves from 1 wall to the other within the closet, stained carpeting & globs of pet hair everywhere from prior tenant, mold, mold & more mold EVERYWHERE, thick soap scum on tub & shower walls, ceiling fans that only go 1 slow speed despite being capable of 3 speeds, & carpet not tacked down & shredding at the transitions. Thanks a lot Legacy!
As for outside her unit/the property, I have actually NEVER seen hallways & stairwells as dirty as these! Give me a break! You can't find the time or money to power wash these areas with all of the money you are stealing from the good, hardworking people that pay you to live there?? I wouldn't want my dog to walk on these areas they are so filthy! We didn't expect perfection, we expected common decency & this place had NONE! Thanks a lot Legacy!
P.S. despite the fact that we put multiple maintenance requests in yesterday to address the most serious issues, based on the truly abysmal reviews about maintenance at this property, I suspect we will either never get these issues addressed or if we do, it will take forever! Then, they will blame us for these pre-existing conditions despite arriving less than 24 hours ago! Apparently, maintenance is a HUGE PROBLEM at this property! The reviews demonstrate a complete lack of response, inability to actually resolve anything, & the fact that their PRIMARY JOB is to blame the residents for existing problems or issues that clearly have nothing to do with the residents. Thanks a lot Legacy!
It's going to be one LONG, MISERABLE year until we can get her out of this horrible property! They should be ashamed of themselves because SO many of these issues are unnecessary & are easily resolved if only someone cared the tiniest bit! Unfortunately, nobody who is affiliated with this property...
