What an incredible experience. 5 stars. We had a day to get away, explore the Apostle Islands National Seashore with family, and True North + Captain Weston made it a reality. We chose the 5 hour tour and it was everything and more we could have asked for. Weston sailed us to multiple historic sites, and even let us swim to a nearby island to explore and adventure. Weston was knowledgeable and professional and made the experience delightful. We would hands-down recommend using True North for your Apostle Islands sailing adventure...going to choose the FULL DAY next time!
Although they do not offer food or beverages, we planned ahead with a small cooler and even brought a nice tablecloth to make it a picnic on the boat. I'd recommended making sure to bring any snacks and drinks you desire. The front of the boat was perfect to relax on the bean bags and soak up the sun. Your experience will be best if you do not have a destination in mind as so much of the tour is reliant on the wind and weather conditions...so come prepared to relax and enjoy the time with your friends.
I took a ton of 360 imagery and drone footage so I will be sending that y'alls way to use for marketing or whatever you want. My company is PARKS360 so be on the lookout for that email. Thanks...
Read moreHighly recommended! We enjoyed an outstanding full day sail with Abe and Josh Clark on June 29th. After a long drive up from Chicago, this was a perfect way to begin our vacation. Our captains were very informative, letting us know that to expect and teaching us about the Apostle Islands and Lake Superior. They showed us several shipwrecks and shared a wealth of knowledge. It was so peaceful - the water lapping on the hull, the wind in our hair, gulls and an occasional eagle flying overhead, and the ever-changing views of the islands. After a close view of the sea caves on Hermit Island we enjoyed a grill lunch onboard and sailed out to Michigan Island. Once there, we disembarked for a trek up to the light station. What a magnificent view! The ranger provided a tour. Our next stop was Stockton Island where we docked and enjoyed a hike along the lakeshore and through the woods. We stopped at the beach to experience the 'singing sand' (unforgettable!). Throughout our sail, our comfort was taken into consideration and our safety ensured. There's no better way to experience the islands than from a sailboat and with the competence of True North Sailing Charters. We'll be back...
Read moreI dare you to find nicer gentlemen to sail with! Captain Abe and deck hand Josh were a joy to sail the with!! I got the chance to help hoist the sails and learn a bit during my first time sailing, but most of the time was spent relaxing and enjoying the immensely beautiful scenery of the waters surrounding the Apostle Islands. My wife, two friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'm already counting counting down 'til the next chance I get to go sailing aboard the charming "Starling"! Totally worth it and I would highly recommend booking a trip with True North Sailing Charters!!
Since we booked the 5-hour excursion, we opted for the free add-on of sleeping on the boat the night before as it's docked. It was so much fun!! Sure, it's not as luxurious as a hotel, but it was advertised as "camping" out on the boat, which is acurrate. It may not be for some who don't sleep well outside their own bed, the bunks were narrow but I loved it. To me it was worth it to get the full experience and enjoy more time with the boat. A nice bonus was that we had the evening before sailing to hang out on the boat as well, and this was almost as fun as the sailing...
