If you are looking for a top-notch and an experienced optician, LOOK NO FURTHER!! I recently had an eye exam and was in search of buying new frames and lenses. I went to Walmart and tried on at least 25 to 30 different pairs of frames. The associate assisting me actually referred me to EyeCandy optical!!
As soon as I walked in the door, I felt a very warm and welcoming greeting from both Mr. James Rudd, ABOC (American Board of Opticianry Certified) (Owner) and his assistant Sydney! They were both extremely professional & personable! I provided James with my prescription & demographic information and he set me up as a new client. He went over in detail with me the coverage that my insurance allowed. Following that, we made our way over to the frame selection.
I told James that I always have an extremely difficult time finding a pair of glasses that fit both the bridge of my nose and for the bottom of the frames to not touch my cheeks. I was explaining to him that the associate at Walmart told me that I needed to look on the inside of the glasses as she pointed out to me, the current bridge on my glasses is a 17. James explained to me that the 17 bridge size isn't necessarily always going to be the fit. You also have to factor in the size of the frames as well as the width of the frames. He said that I would not want to try on a 12 or 14, however a 15 16 17 etc, could all be possible fits for me. I asked him if he could help me pick out a few pairs of frames to try on and he said absolutely! The VERY FIRST FRAMES that he pulled off the wall for me to try on was an absolute PERFECT FIT!! Not only that, but they highly complimented my facial features and skin tone!! He pulled off a few other pairs of frames for me to try on, however I kept going back to the very FIRST pair! I told him how impressed I was at his expertise of not only finding the perfect pair of frames on the FIRST try, but also the education he provided me throughout the entire process!! James told me that's what he strives for is patient education and customer satisfaction!! He also explained to me about the type of progressive lenses that he'd like to put in my glasses...not the kind where you have to constantly look up or look down in order for your "bifocals" to be able to focus in on what you're trying to read!! I told him that I didn't even know that this was an option!! Again, he said that that's why he loves to educate his patients! I feel that Janes is an honest and trustworthy optician!! I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience from start to finish! Thank you James and Sydney!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE...

They charge $65 for a screening even if your insurance covers the screening because of something that they do. Didnt ask for an explanation, sounded like a round about way to charge people. They also immediately want to upsell you on some service that keeps photos of your eyes for an additional $100.
Exam was a typical exam.
Looked through some frames. Prices are similar to other retailers. They immediately add on every adder/upcharge without asking, though.
I will not be returning and would warn others to be cautious of predatory sales tactics here as well.
Update to reply 5/15/2025: I did hang up as I did not have anything else to say, but for clarity, I will explain my concerns so everyone can see them and make their own decisions.
The fact that the retinal photos are opt-out instead of opt-in by default is predatory. That is an additional service.
As for the "higher-end products" mentioned in your reply, I am aware of them and asked for another pair of the ones that I wore in (Oakley Metal Plates). What i did not ask for was the trivex lens and the anti-glare that you added without a word. That additional 255$ is why I am...
Read morePer my friend's suggestion, I decided to give them a try. A little on the pricy side, and 100% worth it. The owner himself, helped me through the process and helped me pick out a red Italian style, that has not only fit my face better, but I've also received more compliments than I've ever had, on a new pair of glasses.
I've been, beyond happy, with this pair and I will definitely be telling any of my own clients, when they ask for suggestions on Eyewear, where I'd suggest them to try.
