Merryland Express — Restaurant in Beckley

If I could give zero Stars I would. This was the most disgusting place that I've ever walked into! Back in the day which was 9 years ago, it was so good, they had business, they were very full. Now I come back home after 9 years and it was a s* show. There were really nobody in there and they weren't even ready and it said open. I sat there and waited 5 minutes to go eat. Or actually 10 minutes. And all of the sudden when I started eating the food it was mediocre. The crab rangoon wontons were s*. It was very sour and tasted like it has been refried and past due. My mom said her fish was very tender as if it was beef jerky very dry and tough and hard to bite into inside and out. Fish is not supposed to be like that. My mom got really sick afterwards. I found a piece of paper that had letters of a menu that you read on a menu with prices and food. It was stuck on my wonton I didn't get to eat it. God knows what they put into the food. And worse they charged me $40 and no discount. $40 for all that mediocre not even mediocre it was disgusting! $40. Should have been $28. Never again...

I was in there for lunch today with my mother. It appears like everything was re-cooked several times The crab Rangoon were so overcooked inside there was nothing except for strange orange chewy things. The chicken had a funny taste, and I could not eat it. I know the eggrolls were cooked more than once, no doubt about it. My first plate was probably thrown into the trash. I was afraid to eat the meat. So I decided to go back up, thinking that some of the fried items will be safer They were no good. Recooked for sure. The soup broth tasted disgusting to me. I've never met any Chinese food that I have not liked until going here. The waitress is very friendly, but I did not like the food at all when I went over to the desserts, I noticed they are the cheapest little Debbie snacks, and they're still wrapped in plastic. I've never seen anything like this at a restaurant. I didn't dare eat the sushi. I got bad vibes. I'm never returning. Im not saying any of this to be cruel, That place could be great...

My wife and I go here from time to time. Today we went in and had dinner. 2 buffets and 2 glasses of water. Simple. Anyway our bill came to 29.00 and change. I went to pay and told the man who checked me out that we had water only. He scratched the total and put 27.00 and change. He said the buffet was 11.79 plus tax x2 people. I did quick math and told him it should be around 25 bucks. Please ring it up. Out of nowhere he yells at me in Cantonese in front of my wife and other patrons. I told him we had water only and he continued to yell. The woman came out and checked me out to the correct total of 25 and change. I chastised him for flipping out and yelling at a customer like that. It was rude, uncalled for, and classless. The lady was fine and seemed apologetic. He yelled that other buffets are $20.
