Horror Freak — Local services in Bedford

If you’re a horror enthusiast like me, you must visit Horror Freak in Hurst—it’s an absolute treasure trove, and the owner is the heart and soul of it all! From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported into a world that any horror fan dreams of. The atmosphere was perfect—dark, eerie, and filled with incredible collectibles, movies, and merch you simply can’t find anywhere else.

The owner’s passion for horror is contagious! He took the time to chat with me about my favorite films, recommended some amazing hidden gems, and shared stories about the history behind some of the rare items in the store. His knowledge is impressive, and it’s clear that this isn’t just a business for him—it’s a true labor of love. He treats every customer like a friend, not just a sale, and his enthusiasm makes the whole experience unforgettable.

Whether you’re a seasoned horror fanatic or just looking for something unique, this place has it all, and the personal touch from the owner makes every visit special. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely cares about their craft and customers in the way he does. I left with some incredible finds and a huge smile on my face.

Horror Freak is finally where it belongs!

I loved the idea of a horror based store, but it's original location (where The Thrifty Pirate used to be) was just far and small enough that making a sperate trip there just didn't seem entirely worth it when we were in the area.

But now, being in the Vintage Plaza between Vintage Freak and Retro Madness, this store is perfectly situated where we can visit and shop there conveniently, and that's key for a niche store such as this one.

If you've never been, here is a breakdown of what to expect. You'll see a little over a quarter of the store is made up of coffin shaped shelves filled with horror movie /shows DVDs, VHS tapes (for you nostalgic types), and Blu-ray discs.

The rest of the store is filled with various memorabilia like action figures, statues, decor, props, etc. with a small collection of books.

Probably my favorite part of visiting Horror Freak is the amazing original horror-ific art for sale. There are paintings, prints, and even masks hand created by some of the people that work there.

Anyhow, if you're a fan or horror or just like to visit unique stores then Horror Freak is worth your time...

Don't get me wrong i like the retro plaza. Horror Freak however is very hit or miss, mostly a miss. The staff is nice usually when theyre not flirting with customers or watching netflix on their phone. I find their prices seriously over inflated for most collectables. You can find most things online for way cheaper, for instance they had a bluray copy of the 1981 film Maniac on sale for 50 dollars awhile back. I found the same one at Frys electronics for $13. Their selections are rather lacking in genuinely good cult films, but if you like popular blockbuster films that are played out by the public, maybe this place is for you. Beware of their used VHS and DVDs. I purchased a certain collection and when i got home the discs inside were not the movies advertised on the box. Infact they were rewritable DVDs or a bootleg that someone had burned and printed out a fake label...
