I recently ordered from the Curbside service. The team that put together and delivered the order was simply OUTSTANDING! We drove down from Denton Thursday to cater a Wedding of 160 people Friday, so the curbside service was extremely helpful. After literally hours of trouble ordering online, I was finally able to get my HUGE order in about 10 PM with a 9:30-10 AM pickup. I’m sure they were surprised to see this giant order with short notice. Someone called me that morning to let me know the status and said they might not have all of the tortillas. I really appreciated the heads up so I could plan accordingly. I called before heading up there to see if I could get everything else while waiting for the tortillas to arrive from another store, the girl on the phone was very helpful and said absolutely! So I headed up there & by the time I got there, I received the notification that my order was ready. I order often from Walmart and Kroger in DFW, so I expect to have items not in stock but when the sweet girl pulled out the huge baskets loaded with everything, I asked what wasn’t available and she said everything is here! I nearly cried with relief because I was already stressing about catering this wedding and thought I would still have more shopping to do. I know how hard that team must have worked that Friday morning to get alllll of the groceries together and the order was exactly perfect. I started to drive away and felt so blessed and relieved. 14 hours of cooking, serving, & cleaning up from the wedding.... the schedule was very tight and we had everything ready seconds before the bride and groom entered the reception. If I had to go to another store after the curbside pickup, I wouldn’t have run out of time. Thank you so much to the team for their awesome work. You don’t know how something so simple as pulling grocery orders can really make a massive impact on something else you won’t even know about....
Read moreCustomer service is good, selection of basics is outstanding, but there is one thing about HEB that are making me use Randall's in Lakeway and Whole Foods more often: consistent removal of products and brands that I prefer in order to push HEB store branded products and I'd guess to meet corporate ideas for stocking efficiency and profitability. Things I used to buy at HEB: Kashi Autumn Wheat cereal, Planters Redskin Peanuts, New French Bakery Artisan Pizza Dough, various Oikos yogurts, etc.
HEB restricted the varieties of Kashi reducing them down to the sweetened/flavored varieties (Cinnamon whatever - yuck!) instead of the relatively plain Autumn Wheat. Planters Redskin Peanuts were replaced by the HEB brand which aren't as tasty as Planters. In general HEB has restricted the Planters varieties and increased the HEB varieties. The New French Bakery Artisan Pizza Dough was replaced by... nothing. Oh you can buy a freezer case Pillsbury dough, which is kind of nasty. It's overly sweet and highly processed, tasting nothing like a home-made pizza dough. And the Oikos yogurts? Mostly displaced by HEB branded yogurts which have poorer texture and chalkier tastes.
I could list more items, but I feel less and less inclined to shop at HEB in Bee Cave. As a general comment, the change of making the Bee Cave HEB a smaller clone of the Lakeway HEB has not been good. A lot of veggies used to be hand-selectable in arbitrary quantities, but not we have standardized amounts in plastic bags. For a household of two, these standardized amounts mean more waste, not to mention more plastic packaging which does NOT recycle. There used to be a olive bar where I could make my own olive mixes. Now guess what - that's gone replaced by standardized amounts etc.
We loved HEB 2010. HEB 2020? Not so much. Corporate MBAs apparently have taken over, not "product" or...
Read moreI recently tried H-E-B’s sushi brand, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor! As someone who enjoys sushi regularly, I was a bit skeptical about supermarket sushi, but H-E-B really exceeded my expectations. The rolls were fresh, well-prepared, and visually appealing, with generous portions of fish and vegetables. I went with a classic spicy tuna roll, and it was absolutely delicious. The tuna tasted fresh, the spice level was just right, and the rice was perfectly sticky and well-seasoned—similar to what I’d expect from a sushi restaurant.
What stood out to me was the variety H-E-B offers. From traditional rolls like California and spicy salmon to more creative combinations, there’s something for every palate. They even offer brown rice options and vegetarian rolls, which is great for anyone looking to make a healthier choice. The convenience of grabbing sushi while grocery shopping is unbeatable, especially when you’re in the mood for something quick and fresh.
Another highlight was the packaging. The sushi comes neatly packed, with wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger included, making it easy to take on the go or enjoy at home. I also appreciate H-E-B’s commitment to freshness; you can tell they prioritize quality, as the fish and vegetables never taste old or pre-packaged.
For the price, H-E-B’s sushi offers fantastic value. It’s an affordable option that doesn’t sacrifice flavor or quality. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient, tasty, and fresh sushi experience outside of a restaurant. Whether you’re craving a quick lunch or want to add something special to your dinner spread, H-E-B’s sushi hits the mark. I’ll definitely be...
