My experience was deplorable! My friend and I came for dinner around 4:30. The place was almost empty. After we got our food we were eating, and all of a sudden my friend started choking and was having difficulty breathing. I was in shock and told her to breath through her nose and try to drink some water. When she tried, she could not swallow and immediately threw it back up. This went on for another minute or so. The manager came over and asked if everything was ok. I told him no, he stood there for a minute as I gave my friend my napkin, as she continued to cough and spit water and food onto the floor. The manager? Well, he walked away. As I continued to administer to my friend, the waitress walked up. I asked her to get more napkins and she walked over a picked a paper cocktail napkin. I told her I needed something more, my friend was coughing and spewing mucus and water. She then picked a few more paper napkins, and at that point I told her we needed cloth napkins! Again, the manager came by again, asked if she was okay. I told him no, she is choking and when I looked over again, he was gone. I could see in the kitchen that the staff was in there, staring at us. No one did a thing! Long story short, I have never been so appalled at the lack of concern, or a total lack of leadership in this situation. Finally someone came out of the kitchen and pretty much said what do you expect us to do. The waitress came out and said, I don't know how to do the Hiemlick manuver, my Dad is a Dr and if he was here maybe he could help. As all that was going on, my friend coughed up what was in her throat. I was in shock with the total lack of concern, action of any sort, and the defensiveness of the staff. When my friend composed herself, totally embarrassed, the waitress asked if we wanted anything else, and I told her the bill. Which was promply delivered. We left having barely touched our meals. So if you would like to pay for mediocre food, and risk the chance of needing something as minor as commom decency, this is your place. I will NEVER go there again. The staff acted like 13 year olds! Obviously had no clue how to calm a situation down, offer kindness, or...
Read moreA few weeks ago my husband and I were trying to enjoy an early evening dinner. We heard a man in the kitchen area ? raising his voice and yelling at someone. We heard a little of the conversation (I will not repeat it here in this review, but you know Who you are and you Know what was said) and we couldn't believe we were hearing this as we were eating our dinner. We then noticed a man walk out from the area in a huff, with a very PO'ed look on his face and angry. I asked our server who that was and she said it was the Owner. WOW! SO Unprofessional, if you have a problem with an employee take it outside, or be quieter, and Don't Cuss!! Or wait until you close, to reprimand and yell at your employees. That is no way for an Owner to treat hard-working servers. Or to treat anyone! We had been to this restaurant about a month earlier, in May. We now remember that this man, the Owner was walking around the restaurant. He stopped at everyone's table (5 tables were occupied at this point) and chatted a bit. BUT When he got to our table, because we were dressed in t-shirts and jeans and sneakers, nothing fancy, he just said a "quick hello, how are things?" ... as we proceeded to talk back to him, he just kept on walking. We just figured he was busy, but he went to the bar and ended up looking at his phone and laughing with the bartender about something. Totally ignoring us. Wow! The food was okay, a bit pricey, but service was great, our server, a few weeks ago, was wonderful, funny and very good, but can't remember her name, short lady with short brown hair. We were turned off by how Unprofessional the Owner was ... We won't be back and we've shared this experience with a few of our friends who have...
Read moreNicely designed interior and outside patio dining space. Bar seating also available. The "Southwestern" menu has a nice variety of lunch type options such as hearty salads, specialty burgers and chicken sandwiches. The more dinner-centric items include fish tacos, Salmon with a bold southwestern sauce, pecan crusted chicken, and more. Pricing is generally in the $15-$20 per entrée range, with a couple of items beyond that which will appeal to the fanciful diners. I had the Roasted pablano chicken sandwhich with bacon slices and sweet potatoe fries. The bread was fresh, soft & sweet, and complimented the taste nicely. Others in our party raved about the fish tacos and pecan crusted chicken. Service was friendly and unrushed. This place is in the Galleria mall, so you'll probably park in the garage right next to the restaurant. Take a casual stroll through the open air mall afterward to realax and marvel over the artificially created urban environment, like a mini-Domain, but they have a strip of real houses here too. The 3-story homes seem close enough to the parking garage levels to almost knock on the windows OK, it's probably six to eight feet, but still it's weird to perhaps be looking out your 3rd story private house residence at someone getting out of their parked car. This is however the environment many people seem to like, so shops and restaurants only steps from your door are traded for the private back-yard BBQ's. Chisos is a great choice for a reasonably priced high...
