Generally speaking, I love World Market. It's hard to find another merchant that sells the variety of foods, furniture and decorations they have to offer. But one employee, Cheryl, seemed to have ruined it for me. She has the absolute worst sense and knowledge of customer service or what it means to serve. She looks pretty rough, like she's been through some hard times, but that doesn't excuse the complete lack of regard she had for my needs as a customer. Customer service is easy, all one has to do is pay attention and serve and try to fulfill your client's will as best you can. I found Cheryl in the store and asked her about a piece of furniture to which she replied(while waving her hands at me), "I'm busy right now, hold on." I was taken back at first. "Did that really happen?" I thought. Several minutes later she returned and politely asked how she could help. I thought maybe I was mistaken on what she said earlier. Maybe I misread her, but no. I informed her to what I was inquiring and she left to go check if they had it in stock. I waited for over 20 MINUTES before I went looking for her and found her helping another customer! By now I'm trying my best to keep my composure; as I approached, she noticed me and quickly said, "we don't have any, sorry." Then she directed her attention back towards the other customer and I disappeared from her world. I will not return to the Bee Cave location as long as Cheryl is an employee, and I will not recommend any of my friends or aquaintances to shop at any such store that allows such disregard for a customer. Read moreEmmanuel is an incredible employee of World Market. He helped me navigate a decision for new dining chairs (I have an odd height dining table and it’s been tricky to find something). He took the time to discuss what I needed and then when the first chair I really liked wasn’t in stock in Austin he offered to help me find a way to source them from other stores in TX! Those chairs didn’t work but he did help me find some that did and helped me get them ordered to the store, get a discount, and get everything loaded. Read moreLook, it's a small thing, but I love proper liquorice. Not that sweet Australian stuff, or the strange substance which passes for it at most US grocery stores - PROPER liquorice. I mean salty, intense and in your face. Cost Plus sell it. For that alone they deserve 5 stars. Add in the really nice dinner tables and chairs they sell for reasonable money and they're a winner.
