Unfortunately, I had to change my rating today 4/7/24 to three stars as none of the staff in the store knew the ingredients, or more importantly, the allergens in ANY of the bagels. You not only sent customers away, you make someone feels like there's no options for him when it's NOT TRUE. This company, Einstein Bros, in particular, goes above and beyond to offer options to different tastes and needs, which is so great. But, the staff that is currently working in the store is ignorant of it and so the effort goes to waste. If they were teens helping out, as we're still living times of staff shortage, I could let it pass, but these were two grown men talking to us My son has dairy and egg allergies. First we were told that ALL bagels had dairy and eggs. I explained to them - the ones working in a bagel shop - that this is unusual as the traditional bagel recipe DOESN'T have any eggs or dairy in it. Therefore, at least the plain bagel should be ok. Then, one admitted that he was not sure and preferred not to sell something that could produce a reaction. Very responsible, and appreciated (and why I didn't go down to a one star review). "Can you check the ingredients of the bagels (these are normally listed on the box)?" I asked. "NO, unfortunately, there is no way of checking."
We left the shop, and I immediately found a comprehensive list of ALL Einstein Bro's products allergens available in the Internet. Only three bagels of the couple of dozens they sell had dairy in them. None had eggs. Why these gentlemen don't have a copy of this official document to share with their customers? Sigh... No soy milk available, but the store added almond milk. Well done.
Starbucks got our business today. ORIGINAL REVIEW 2018 4 Stars Lovely place. Many different options. Friendly staff. I lived in NY for 11 years and was looking forward to finding a bagel place in Austin. While the bagel tasted a little lighter than a traditional one, it was still good. We'll should be back. It would be nice to have soy lattes available. Update on April 15, 2022: 5 Stars: top service I added an extra star for Enelda (sorry if spelling is wrong) going out of her way to make me an extra foamy cappuccino today! She said her first didn't come out as good. I do appreciate great customer service! Thank you! Still missing that soy...
Read moreThis review is for this location only. I have been a long time customer of Einstein Bros. Bagels, since 2009. In the years I have gone to various establishments and have never encountered any issue with food or dealing with an employees attitude. At this location, be aware of what you order, especially if the bagel "meal" comes with a side or not. During a Sunday morning instance, my husband and I ordered. We were overcharged for a side that clearly is part of a bagel meal. Initially, I was unaware the item I ordered came with a side and stated "no side." As soon as I realized it came with a side, I asked if the fruit cup could be my side for the order. Instead, the gentleman who was taking our order clearly demonstrated an irritated affect and did not graciously demonstrate a patient or attentive customer service response. Nor did he verbally state he would correct the order. The employee acted unkind, ungenerous, and stole our money instead of correcting the order. How dare he overcharge us to have a side of fruit added, when clearly it is part of the order! Be aware of this location, they will steal your money and will not demonstrate a care in the world for a simple mistake a customer...
Read moreColin (manager), please take note. Your female employee who drives the red mustang needs a bit of training. She was working at 7:02 am on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017. I'd start by explaining to her how a clock works and that if she leaves her house a couple minutes earlier, she won't be late for work. If she leaves earlier, she won't have to fly through the parking lot and nearly hit a customer (me). The next bit of training would be general courtesy... taking 2 extra seconds to hold the door open for the customers walking in behind her. Letting it close in front of them doesn't give a good image for Einstein Bros. Lastly, some customer relations training would help her behind the counter. The short attitude with sharply worded comments isn't what i'm paying for.
As an FYI, the other...
