Today I had the joy of my car needing towed. I parked in the NE corner of the parking lot, notified AAA and started a 1&1/2 hour wait. It was 88 Fahrenheit. Went in a bought a can of beer. Went and sat in what I assume was the employee smoking area because it was in the shade on the NE side of the store. . I interacted with only one employee who I informed I was waiting for a tow truck and pointed out my vehicle. The can of beer was contained in the sack provided by the store. I visit this store 2-5 times per week. They have catered my wedding, numerous birthday cakes and literally have spent thousands versus going to other big name stores. They felt the need to call the police on a 65 year old man, veteran medic and 34 year ER/ICU RN sitting on a bench on the NE side of the store. Luckily the police sent 2 different cars. The police were professional and courteous. The issue was resolved and I was allowed to continue to wait for the tow truck. Many staff know me, especially the one I spoke with as she sees me often. The humiliation of interacting with the police in the city I reside was extra special. Loved the store, staff and often but not always the prices. But again, employee owned. Needless to say I will not bother them ever again for my grocery needs so they don’t feel the need to call the police. It makes me sad but I’m dying of cancer so they won’t miss my business. Should have known better than to drink a beer out of the public eye in their “smoking area” but all things considered I did not feel I was doing anything wrong. I spoke to one employee and a young father and his son walking their dog. But thanks to them for letting me know how they feel about a longtime and conservative customer who had the audacity to have their car break down in their...
Read moreI don't shop in here very often due to prices are high. I went last night to get my mother some chicken tenders. I walked up to the counter and two girls were standing by the meat slicer. No one at the hot bar. I thought maybe that person was in the back getting fresh food so I waited. The girls chatted about one of their daughters. The one kept looking at me so I knew they saw me. I continued to wait. After finishing their conversation, they parted ways. The blond one came over and asked what she could get for me. There were bits and pieces of tenders and they all looked oil drenched and they had been sitting there awhile. I asked if they had fresh tenders coming out and all she said was "no". I was not going to waste my money on food that would not be edible. I turned around and went to the checkout. I had picked up a couple of items. There were two lanes opened so I got in line. Just a I got up to the clerk, she tells me that I have to go to the other line. There wasn't anyone behind me. I have 2 items. As I go to the other lane, I hear her tell the other clerk that she was going to straighten up the back. The clerk checks me out and walks off to do something else so I started to bag my mums so dirt didn't get all over my car. I remember now why I quit going here. I guess next time I will drive another mile down the road and get chicken at Walmart. It's...
Read moreI would love to go to the store five stars but it just doesn't stack up against other grocery stores. On a positive note everyone who I've met in there is very nice. The staff was helpful and friendly and kind. My main issue is the lack of variety and the out rages prices. I tried to get some dish washing detergent today and they only had three different kinds. Two of which were namebrand and almost $6 for one container! At Walmart I can get the same thing for about $2.50. So I looked for the offbrand. And the offbrand was $3.58! And it was smaller than any container I ever buy. I know this is a tiny example but everything in the store is more expensive than the same item at almost any other store I've ever been to. Red onions for $1.58 per pound. A cucumber cost me a dollar. Again, there are small things but they do add up very quickly! For instance, at Aldie I get cucumbers for $.28 each very regularly. Every now and then they are as expensive as $.48 each at Aldie. But I've never had to pay a dollar for one cucumber at any store before. And I understand that I don't have to shop there, and I can go somewhere else. But today it was the most convenient thing and Google prompted me to give the store a review and so there's my...
