I have an ongoing issue with Express Care of Belleview.
I was charged $120 for a scheduled office visit, that should have been covered by insurance. My insurance company (a major national insurance company) verified this. Express Care says that it is because they could not communicate with my insurance company to verify my coverage, and that I had to pay up front and get reimbursed. I still have not heard anything from them, and still have not been reimbursed. Unfortunately $120 is a lot of money to me, and I feel greatly mislead. The more frustrating aspect is not receiving any help!
When I arrived at 8:45am for my 9am labs, I wasn't aware that my appointment time was almost irrelevant. I had been fasting, for labs, and was already struggling with low blood sugar. I made that appointment that morning because I am having hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) issues/episodes. 2.5 hours until I was taken to an exam room. At 11:30am I was seen by a phlebotomist, who proceeded to miss my veins 3x. I gave her 3 opportunities until I asked for someone else, who nailed it first try. I am a 35 year old personal trainer with under 10% body fat. I have massive veins. They eventually got their samples. While I was waiting to see a Dr, this WAS my PCP, a NP came in and said that he was the one that I would be seeing for my appointment. I was under the impression that I was seeing a Doctor, and that's what I was paying for. Had I been given all of the information at the beginning, I would have requested a different appointment, when I could have actually seen a doctor, and had a doctor see me!
The most frustrating part wasn't the terrible quality of medical care, wasn't the bruises left on my arms after 3 missed jabs, wasn't being mislead about seeing a Doctor, and it wasn't even when I was told that they couldn't verify my insurance.... The most frustrating part is the indifference of the staff.
We are not at your office because everything is amazing, we are at your office because we need help. We are having medical issues that are taking a toll on life. Life is difficult enough as it is. I guess the problem could be my expectations, though. I expected employees there to want to be helpful, to be caring and compassionate, and to want to be there helping people.
If you keep your expectations extremely low, you will probably have a good experience here!! But, I would recommebd avoiding this...
Read moreStay away! I went in for a simple foot X-ray to be cleared for a marathon. Letâs start with the check in process. There was nobody at the front desk for 10 minutes! Once she came back, I asked if there was any paperwork I needed to fill out as a new patient and she said no so I took my seat in the waiting room. 10 minutes later she called me up and asked if I was a new patient, I JUST SAID I WAS. So she hands me the usual stack of paperwork that eats up another 10 minutes. Once that part was done, I hear my name being called over an intercom system. I made eye contact with the front desk rep because I didnât know where I was supposed to go. Finally the triage employee came out looking frustrated and I apologized stating I was unaware where to go and he made no comment. He was cold, rude, and didnât say a word until he was done taking my vitals. He said âroom 7â while still staring at his screen and I had to wander the halls as a new patient looking for room 7. Thankfully it wasnât too hard to find, but I still felt like an employee should escort or at least give directions to where their patient should go. It wasnât until after I was in the room for about 2 minutes, the triage employee came in only to line to exam bed. The PA was nice, but extremely rushed. Once I finally made it to radiology, I over heard the X-ray tech saying is this For âAngela OJohn or (other name)â and âis it right or left foot,I donât see.â I immediately lost all confidence as to who would be taking my X-ray. After hearing them go back and forth with the patient name, lab test results, and the laterality of the foot being examined, I was finally called back and it took a whole 5 minutes. As I headed to the checkout, the same rep from the front desk was texting on her phone. I waited a few minutes before saying something and she hastily stashed her phone away and helped me. I understand urgent care often comes with wait times, but my whole experience was unnecessarily inconvenient, rude, and unprofessional. Little changes such as double checking if it is a new/existing patient, giving directions or walking the patient to the next room, and not audibly talking about discrepancies in the X-ray order in front of the patient being X-rayed would made a HUGE difference for the patientâs experience. Do better Belleview. You have a nice clinic and your patients deserve to be treated with more respect and...
Read moreWhere do I start? First. I really like my doctor, Rob Main. I believe he truly cares, and truly tries. and for the most part, I have liked the nurses associated with him too. Past that though, is where the trouble lies. I have Agitation issues. According to the National Institutes of Health, agitation can be defined as a period of extreme tension, irritability and arousal. If you are agitated, you might pace, chew on your fingernails, fidget with your clothing or hair, and be unable to sit still. Noise, glare, background distraction (such as having the television on), certain odors and discordant sounds, can act as triggers. I have told them over and over, the longer I sit listening to four tvs, squalling brats, iPhone games, smelling colognes and perfumes and cigarette smoke and body odors, and going without my meds, etc, the worse it gets and the higher my blood pressure goes.
The girls up front don't really care- they can be rude, cold, and uncaring. A few of the other staff is just as bad. They ignore you and have told me to my face I was not special, that I would have to wait when I asked about my appointment. Fine. I ROUTINELY wait 4 hours or longer (With an appointment) but what I DO mind is being scheduled for Fasting Labs and seeing 2 hours, 3 hours, hours creep by. I asked the girl how much longer it might be because I needed to take one of my blood pressure meds with food. She sighs a huge sigh, and proceeds to tell me I had to wait like everyone else.
About half an hour later, they took me back and took my blood pressure -(Which always run high there because of said agitation issues) and then.... I go sit again, waiting another 2 hours before they called me back to see the doctor. All the while FASTING and by that my point my blood pressure is hammering.
I feel the clinic is doing more harm than good at times like this. Someone really needs to evaluate their customer service. I told Dr Main I refuse to come there anymore for fasting labs when you can go to LAB CORP and be in and out in 15 - 30 minutes. I refuse to sit there anymore and let that place make me sick (The effects last two or three days!). I cannot control the agitation issue other than to avoid things that trigger it, which, in my personal life, I do. I now have a time limit on how long to wait, and when...
