Unless you are a very creative person and can translate this to them on what exactly to do, this may not be the place for you.

This place was recommended to me by a friend who has ordered cakes from them for years. I gladly took the recommendation, contacted them about needing a cake for graduation... and I was upfront that I had no idea what I wanted. They suggested Pinterest for ideas and said I could look through their book for ideas when stopping in. A few days later, I stopped into the store with a few ideas that I typed up. Admittedly, it was not detailed, but explained that my son was graduating and moving away to play baseball in Arizona. I gave them the school info and the logo for the baseball program and asked them to do their thing. Paid $100 for a sheet cake.

When I went to pick up the cake the day before the graduation, I was in shock. What I picked up was a cake that looked as if they rushed through it cuz they were busy. There was nothing creative, fun, or exciting about it. They didn't even take the time to center anything! The writing was piped on and the edible print outs they used were wrinkled and just like everything else, off center... I seriously could have done this cake myself. I left with the cake and then before I even reached home, I pulled over and called them. They were nice enough to let me bring it back and they said they would work on doing better.

When we got back to the store with the cake, we dealt with two people. One person who was trying to make things right and another who was obviously offended that we didn't like her off-kilter work (I found out later this was the owner). I seriously thought this irate individual was going to come over the counter at us at one point. She was adamant that we need to tell them exactly what we want and that we need to tell them to be creative. I calmly explained that I had given the leeway to be creative and had told them this is not my area of expertise. In fact... SPECIALIST is in THEIR name... shouldn't they be the ones to come up with something amazing???? They scraped off the frosting of the fiasco they gave me and did somewhat better, but it was still nothing special. I get that it's a sheet cake, so there's only so much you can do, but I went to several grad parties with sheet cakes that had cool effects on them, air brushed designs, cool lettering, etc. Hy-Vee or Sam's probably would have done better... for less! And I love Hy-Vee cakes!

The upside... Everyone loved the taste of the cake. It did taste good. Not the best cake I ever had, but it's up there.

Due to the owner being so hostile, I will never go back and give them another try... and will never recommend them to anyone.

Wouldn't you want better for...

Ordered a dozen cake pops for my sons 7th birthday in April 2021 half orange and half blue my husband picked them up and they were all blue. We ordered two flavors and were pretty upset that they didnt at least dip each flavor in one color each to distinguish what color went with each flavor for $24 they looked extremely rushed and plain! We go here for each of our kids birthday partys and have always been super happy I wished i would have got home and noticed that they werent made right before they closed or else i would have called! Jamie reached out and gave us a credit. So we just decided to give them another chance and I wish we didnt. (November 2021) Our cake was the wrong flavor they made white cake with chocolate chips and it was suppose to be chocolate cake with chocolate chips. We paid extra for the cookies and cream mousse filling to imitate a oreo cookie and that's what my son asked for was a chocolate oreo cookie cake. So was upset when I picked it up and mentioned to her that it's wrong and she just said, that's not what was written down. If my dad wouldn't have paid for it since it was my sons present from him I would have not taken it because it looked sloppy, rushed and unfinished compared to the picture of the cake we sent and got a quote for. So much so that after we took it home and had to go back out to a few stores picking up and spending more money on the supplies we needed to fix it...just what we wanted to do the evening before our party. Pretty disappointed in back to back orders missing the mark. This used to be our go to spot for cakes and goodies I'm sad to say we will be finding...

Unfortunately I have to give 1 star for this business. I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday back in August. The person I was communicating with was short and and rude to me the entire time. When I didn’t hear anything back I asked when the cake would be finished. She messaged back and said “we are closed tomorrow and the next day. We close in 2 hours.” So I had my mom pick up the cake, where she was also rude to her. I was actually going to order from them again for my sons birthday and give them another chance but noticed they completely blocked me on Facebook (yikes) when I’ve been extremely nice and professional towards them. I run a small local business here in Omaha myself, and this isn’t something I would do. You don’t block your customers instead of simply apologizing for the lack of professionalism...

We've tried a few bakers in the area for cakes, and the Cake Specialist is by far the best across the board. I was able to get my son a really cool cake, with a fun trendy look, for his birthday at an affordable and fair price. The whole thing was edible, and structured in a way that was solid for transportation. The cake itself was absolutely perfect. Delicate and balanced, obviously still fresh and not dried out from repeated freezer cycles. We went with chocolate, it was amazing. Buttercream was exactly what you'd expect. These lovely bakers used buttercream as the primary, which shows their skills off, and also everyone knows fondant may be pretty but it's not fun to eat. I do not need to keep looking for a cake baker, I have found one.

I work for a catering company and manage a lot of weddings, which also means I end up cutting a lot of weddings cakes. Some wedding cakes fall apart after the first cut, but not with the cake provided by the Cake Specialist. I was able to dissect the top tier from the rest of the cake without any issues. It was easy to cut neat slices of cake without it crumbling into a hundred pieces, before it reached the plate. The cake specialist provided a gorgeous gold stand for the cake as well, making it easier for the cake to be cut. I was happy to hear that this cake came out of Bellevue! Support local businesses !
