Great food and lousy service... decor could use a little work.

Updating from 11 months ago. Today is 8/8/19. Since our first "GOOD" experience, it's been pretty much down hill. Their food is still good and that's why we've given them second chance(s); however, last night was the straw that broke the camel's back and we will not return. The following has become a recurring event with bad service.

My family, wife and two boys, went there for supper without me. My wife texted me when she got there with pictures of the menu as she was going to bring me supper from there. She and the boys were greeted and seated in the raised area in back. My wife said there were two people at the bar and one couple already seated when they arrived.

After seating my family, the woman left. She didn't ask them if they'd like drinks or anything. Another couple came in, she seated them and brought them drinks. Then another woman came in alone and she was seated and brought a drink. Then the first couple, who'd been seated after my family had their order taken. My family sat there for literally over 20 minutes and watched 3 people be seated, brought drinks, have their order taken and salads served while completely being ignored by the woman who seated them and any other employee.

At that point, my family got up and left and went to Stella's, another local restaurant with FIRST CLASS SERVICE and OUT OF THIS WORLD burgers!

We will not be going back to The Special and after reading several reviews for The Special on different platforms including their own Facebook page, it seems they've had a service problem they haven't fixed for...

Everything I have ever ordered at The Special restaurant has without fail been very good. The wait staff is friendly without fail and always ready to get whatever you might need. They get crowded…duh, because so many people want to eat there, and you might have to wait. If you don’t want to wait there’s a very simple solution, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! If they are busy, it might take a while to get your food… another duh. If you want your food right away and can’t take your precious time to wait for it to be served there’s a very simple solution, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The restaurant isn’t fancy, if you want fancy there’s a very simple solution, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! If they happen not to answer the phone, just maybe they didn’t decide “I’m gonna ignore this call on purpose “. Could actually be they’re too dang busy with customers who were there before you called. If they’re closed for some reason when it wasn’t ok with you, guess you never thought it could be because of something beyond their control and that they don’t owe you a phone call to tell you they won’t be open that day. I absolutely recommend this place and if you happen to read reviews, ignore the “royalty” and the Karens and Kens who gave this place...
