Let's start by saying this : the location is NOT a bookstore. The photos of this place are outdated, in the photos it looks more like a small bookstore. This place is no more a bookstore than a gas station is a candy shop. I traveled to the location expecting to support a small bookstore, I was aware they also sell alcohol. I was mislead by the website , and the photos. I brought my 5 year old daughter with me. When I arrived there was no signage for the place. I walked in there is a pizza shop, a crepe shop , and then it seemed nothing. That is because the door to the place is hidden behind a full size painting with no signage indicating to move the painting to find the door. When u enter it is a bar , along the walls are bookcases where the fronts of the books have been turned to face outward and take up more space on the shelf. The books at the location serve as merely the decor to a bar. The books are only sorted by subject area and are otherwise in no specific order and not ordered by authors last name. Care was not taken to even attempt to mask as a bookstore at the physical location. I left embarrassed that I brought a 5 year old into a speakeasy. If I went to this location to find a bar and if it was described as a bar with a booklover twist and noted that it is a hidden location my rating would be higher. However it is described as a bookstore , no note that the location is intentionally hidden, and resulted in me entering a speakeasy with a child ! 3 stars because of this , they have a online bookstore where u can find any book u need, the physical location is...
Read moreTerrible customer service holy cow. I walk in, look around and could not find what I was looking for. So I go up to the bar and the young brunette girl doesn’t even look up at me. No one else is around so it’s not like she was too busy to acknowledge me. So I ask “How are you?” and she’s like “I’ll be with you in a second” …. uh okay? A normal person would respond “Good, how are you?” So I’m just standing there while she’s making a drink like she hates her life. Then her coworker comes over and he looks at me, says nothing. There’s still silence. So I say “Are you guys okay?” and the coworker guy says “Yes, how are you?” and asks if the drink she’s making is mine, and I said no that I wanted to ask a question but you guys seem very unapproachable. I proceeded to ask him if they had specific books in stock that I saw on their online store, and neither him nor I could find them in the store but he said he could order them for me if I wanted to. I ended up just walking out. Very bad taste in my mouth from today’s visit. Staff needs to be trained on how to be friendly and approachable to someone who comes to visit. Not look like you hate your life and won’t even answer “How are you”! I appreciate the guy with the long black hair who tried to make it right, but I will never come back here. Totally unfriendly people...
Read moreThe venue and book shop with a bar is a quiet unique place. When we walked in to browse we made ourselves comfortable in one of the delightful chairs. The woman at the bar was chatting with a a customer. We looked at the offerings printed on the menu. We waited and she did not acknowledge us, I was waiting for her to say “welcome in” “when your ready, I will take your order”, not a single word. We continued to sit and waiting to make eye contact, nothing. So my husband said he would browse again, but still no acknowledgment from the woman at the bar. It wasn’t busy, as there was one woman sitting in a chair reading. We continued to wait patiently as she continued to chat with one person at the bar. We heard about this place so we were excited to visit. We had a wonderful lunch at the Latin cuisine restaurant, their hospitality and food was A+ We were very disappointed that we were completely ignored….. not sure what we had to do to get served? Not so sure we will be returning, with no reception of any kind. Thank you, this young woman needs to polish up on...
