Anytime Fitness — Local services in Belvidere Township

I am a former member of Anytime Fitness and I trained there for about 4 years. It is a small gym and does not have a lot of equipment, so you would have to decide if it will meet your needs. Since I live in Belvidere I traded convenience for amenities so I wouldn't have to drive to Rockford. it was fine until new ownership and particularly management took over.

The manager, Mitch Wilkins is the most unprofessional gym manager I have ever encountered, and I have known many having belonged to large gyms for over 30 years. He is rude, condescending and verbally abusive towards the members. It is not only my opinion but that of several other former gyms members that I spoke with. One member told me that his wife refused to come back to the gym because of Mitch's nastiness towards her. When I decided to leave the gym when my membership was up I brought Mitch's mistreatment of members up with one of the other assistant managers and she told me that other complaints had been made and the owners were aware of the situation. I ended up leaving, deciding that it would be worth it to drive to Rockford to train at a much better gym at a much lower membership cost, and that I had had enough of Mitch.

By the way, a friend of mine just had an encounter with Mitch 3 days ago and he was nasty and unprofessional with her, and she was inquiring about a membership! He actually told her to leave the facility and would not give her the contact information for the owners so she could complain. Ive always supported this organization for their 100 % dedication to their current members as well as new . The facility is always clean , the staff always friendly, knowledgeable and available for questions etc . The equipment is state of the art w easy to read instructions, as well as to ask staff.. The gym is open 24 hrs 7 days a week w a secure security system. I speak very highly of the staff , the trainers are the best you can have Evan, Yanelli, Ian, and Quinton w manager Mike will never disappoint. Anytime is committed to the Bevidere Community as well as outside patrons, they are now collecting for Toys for Tots a Christmas tradition, as well as promoting various contests throughout the year. When you become a member of Anytime Fitness in Belvidere you are known as a first name basis , We are Family and committed together to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I want to encourage anyone to come join our family, I'm 68, I have never been stronger, I work w Evan, he is my trainer.. his encouragement and positivity has gave me confidence again . Not impressed with how I am being treated. I called to place my membership on hold due to pregnancy complications that have me unable to work out until after the baby is born. I was told there were documents required to be able to put my membership on hold and the owner told me he would get back to me in a couple of days. I tried for six weeks to get ahold of the gym to find out what they needed, leaving multiple voice-mail and no one ever called me back and I was still being billed every two weeks. Now I'm getting told via email that I need to update my card on file and that my pregnancy complications are not an excuse and I am still getting nowhere with anyone telling me what documentation they need to pause the membership and they are going to send me to a debt collector.
