I was so happy when this store opened in downtown Bethel and I still shop there but don't buy very much. The produce is often rotting. I've bought or nearly purchased 4 or 5 items that were past their sell by date - one by months. I also noticed that after the Jif recall of a couple of months ago, they still had Jif on their shelves when no other store did. Last week, I wanted to buy a baked good from behind the glass counter and saw that a large insect -- a bee? -- was flying around in there. The people who work there are very friendly but didn't follow up when they were out of a couple of items after promising they'd reorder them. Also, some of their prices are absolutely ridiculous -- higher even than Whole Foods -- i.e. Philadelphia cream cheese for @$8...
Read moreI was happy a local grocery store was coming near me, only to find out the prices are a rip off of the same items I can get for less at the rite aid in the same plaza and other grocery competitors in the greater Danbury areas. The Caraluzzi’s market down the road are not expensive like this. I do not buy meat or fish in a market where I can smell the meat and fish. Sadly, I feel like this place is a mirror experience of shopping in a bodega in Harlem or the Bronx, and because this location is in Fairfield county, the prices reflect what kind of clientele it is catering to except it’s excluding access. Management should re-evaluate big time, and despite inflation, it should not be a night and day experience when I can get household items for less in the same...
Read moreThe store is very clean, well organized and has a nice variety of products. The beef we puchased was very good and reasonably priced. The butcher was very competent and friendly. We bought alfajores, pan de yuca and other items from the pastry area. They were fresh and delicious. The gentleman who helped us in that department answered all our questions (about the items we were not familiar with) thoroughly and cordially. Overall, we were quite impressed with this market and plan to...
