Building has BAD infestation. Avoid moving here.
The move-in process was easy, the leasing agents are very helpful. HOWEVER, the building's management and upkeep has loads of issues. (We live at 4949)
We've been dealing with COCKROACHES in our unit for over 6 months now. We first found them about a month after move-in, and immediately let maintenance know. Since then, pest control has come over and over and the problem is STILL bad. I'm convinced it is a building-wide issue, and it's being treated as a unit issue which is humiliating – we are clean people and have done everything we can to combat this. We've seen the roaches come from the vents, reported this, and nothing has changed. I've also had an awful time trying to get in contact with management with this issue.
I was reading so many reviews for apartments in this area before we moved in, and they looked promising for this one. A month or so after moving in, only 2 washing machines (out of 5/6) were working in the laundry room. A month later, they broke down, so management had 2 replacement machines – but they were used and also didn't work properly. These problems have not been resolved in the 8 months we've lived here.
I'm unsure if management recently changed (it's not like they've contacted me after reaching out, so how would I know?), but this place seems like it used to be in good shape, but is now deteriorating.
For the amount of rent we're paying (1650), we should not have to deal with roaches, broken laundry machines, and management that isn't keen on responding to issues and taking accountability. Or problem solving, at that!
PS.. I even set up a phone appointment to speak with a manager today. It's been more than 15 minutes and they have yet to call.
Please, before you sign a lease or even apply, make sure you ask about...
Read moreI lived in the Glen Dora (4998 Battery Ln) for about a year. I wish I had lived ANYWHERE ELSE.
Thin walls (can hear neighbors from all sides of the apartment at every hour), horrible plumbing, disgusting and expensive laundry room (at least $15 to do two week's worth of laundry, clothes go missing, clothes get thrown on the floor) cars getting broken into, and literally THOUSANDS of dollars of package theft. THOUSANDS. And they do absolutely nothing about it.
Every time I called management, I was told that it was my fault, and that I needed to set up alerts for packages on my phone. Like, duh, I DO. But even when they are delivered directly to my door they are stolen. Are people supposed to stay home from work in order to have a package delivered? Like, what? No cameras, no place to keep packages secure, no help.
Sure, rent is cheap for the area. To be honest, I would rather have a much longer commute and 2X more expensive rent than ever live here again. The only nice part about living here are the maintenance workers. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. On the flip side, management is horrible, and they only care about making money, and are mean (yes, thats correct, not just rude - mean). The woman that I constantly had the displeasure of speaking to on the phone would interrupt me, talk down to me, and try and gaslight me that everything that was happening was my fault?
Anyway, do yourself a favor and live ANYWHERE ELSE.
Edited to add: Do not let the positive reviews fool you. There are many different buildings that are included in these ratings since Aldon owns several buildings on Battery Lane. Do yourself a favor and if you are able to take a tour, talk to the...

These people just do not understand how to treat their CUSTOMERS. The building is constantly a construction zone, which means there is a "staging area" in the parking lot for the better part of a year. Even when those spots are open there is not sufficient parking for all the residents even though they have these meaningless gates to enter the lot. My tags were recently dead and clearly that is my fault, however, Aldon's contractor thought it would be nice to sick a huge sticker right on my windshield, made it very easy to move my vehicle since it is a Sunday and nobody knows who to contact to stop my vehicle from being towed. Not to mention, the sticker took about 15 minutes to remove w/ a razor blade.
Be careful if they make any promises when you move in such as improvements to the building. The Middlebrooke lobby/Lower Level was a completely construction zone also for the better part of a year (upgrades which included a new laundry room and a gym which is now closed again).
I've worked with their corporate folks as well on a professional level and even they are idiots turning away good money.
They can't even figure out how to send me a new Lease so I can renew, I tried calling and e-mailing my difficulties to them and they are of course slow to respond. Clearly it is time to look for a new place to live and that's exactly what I intend on doing.
Update Lovely stock reply from Aldon below. Now they are taking me to court for a late rent payment which I already...
