(4949)I don’t do reviews, but this one is needed! If could give no stars I would!!! One of thee most disgusting places to live! Rodents, roaches, carpet smells, mold, just everything about these apartments are bad! I literally had mice the entire time I stayed here(1yr). It was a horrible experience and all they did was nothing. I kept telling them where the mice were coming from, and instead of them patch the hole, they kept coming in setting traps. Don’t even try to use the laundry mat, you will either not find any working or your clothes will be soaking wet after “drying” them. There was a used tampon down the hall so, not only are the apartments filthy but some residents are nasty. There’s mold everywhere and all they do it paint over it. Maintenance there is a joke the only thing they are good for is unclogging a toilet. No matter how convenient it is to work or wherever, it is just not worth it. The ONLY good thing is the apartments were quiet. It was a weird encounter with the NEW people in management returning security deposit. Tanisha kept giving me the run around. The property manager quit or got fired(I’m not surprised) and charged me incorrectly on move out. So, they took that money out of my deposit. A bunch of incompetent people working there!

Overall my roommate and I have had a mostly positive experience living here. We are both AU students and we decided to move to Bethesda to save some money while we took classes online. We decided on the Glen Dorra (4998 Battery Lane). The floors are carpeted which is a shame but thats about all our issues with our apartment. We both have very big bedrooms which is nice! A consistent issue however, is package theft. As you can see from the photos, the package room is kind of a mess. Sometimes the delivery guys bring the items to your door, but sometimes they just leave them in that room, which can lead to them going missing. I feel like I've heard about someone losing a package at least once a week here. It's been pretty clear the the building isn't going to do anything about it, so try to track your packages and make sure you're present when they arrive. The stairwells also consistently reek of weed, so some may have an issue with that. All in all, you're getting what you pay for here. It's cheap, but there is also nobody stationed in the building. It's up to you to decide if that is worth it or not.

Do not move here. Too many maintenance issues for the price. Leaking roof, washers and dryers are always broken, staff is unreachable, elevators are a death trap (they even post warning signs to make sure you have your phone in case of emergencies and elevators don't function while you are on it), packages get stole, neighbors complain of roaches and rats, and now ALL of the water in my apartment is piss colored yellow. Not worth the price, not worth the hassle.

Building has BAD infestation. Avoid moving here.

The move-in process was easy, the leasing agents are very helpful. HOWEVER, the building's management and upkeep has loads of issues. (We live at 4949)

We've been dealing with COCKROACHES in our unit for over 6 months now. We first found them about a month after move-in, and immediately let maintenance know. Since then, pest control has come over and over and the problem is STILL bad. I'm convinced it is a building-wide issue, and it's being treated as a unit issue which is humiliating – we are clean people and have done everything we can to combat this. We've seen the roaches come from the vents, reported this, and nothing has changed. I've also had an awful time trying to get in contact with management with this issue.

I was reading so many reviews for apartments in this area before we moved in, and they looked promising for this one. A month or so after moving in, only 2 washing machines (out of 5/6) were working in the laundry room. A month later, they broke down, so management had 2 replacement machines – but they were used and also didn't work properly. These problems have not been resolved in the 8 months we've lived here.

I'm unsure if management recently changed (it's not like they've contacted me after reaching out, so how would I know?), but this place seems like it used to be in good shape, but is now deteriorating.

For the amount of rent we're paying (1650), we should not have to deal with roaches, broken laundry machines, and management that isn't keen on responding to issues and taking accountability. Or problem solving, at that!

PS.. I even set up a phone appointment to speak with a manager today. It's been more than 15 minutes and they have yet to call.

Please, before you sign a lease or even apply, make sure you ask about...

I lived in the Glen Dora (4998 Battery Ln) for about a year. I wish I had lived ANYWHERE ELSE.

Thin walls (can hear neighbors from all sides of the apartment at every hour), horrible plumbing, disgusting and expensive laundry room (at least $15 to do two week's worth of laundry, clothes go missing, clothes get thrown on the floor) cars getting broken into, and literally THOUSANDS of dollars of package theft. THOUSANDS. And they do absolutely nothing about it.

Every time I called management, I was told that it was my fault, and that I needed to set up alerts for packages on my phone. Like, duh, I DO. But even when they are delivered directly to my door they are stolen. Are people supposed to stay home from work in order to have a package delivered? Like, what? No cameras, no place to keep packages secure, no help.

Sure, rent is cheap for the area. To be honest, I would rather have a much longer commute and 2X more expensive rent than ever live here again. The only nice part about living here are the maintenance workers. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. On the flip side, management is horrible, and they only care about making money, and are mean (yes, thats correct, not just rude - mean). The woman that I constantly had the displeasure of speaking to on the phone would interrupt me, talk down to me, and try and gaslight me that everything that was happening was my fault?

Anyway, do yourself a favor and live ANYWHERE ELSE.

Edited to add: Do not let the positive reviews fool you. There are many different buildings that are included in these ratings since Aldon owns several buildings on Battery Lane. Do yourself a favor and if you are able to take a tour, talk to the...

If I could l leave a zero I would be extremely tempted.

These people just do not understand how to treat their CUSTOMERS. The building is constantly a construction zone, which means there is a "staging area" in the parking lot for the better part of a year. Even when those spots are open there is not sufficient parking for all the residents even though they have these meaningless gates to enter the lot. My tags were recently dead and clearly that is my fault, however, Aldon's contractor thought it would be nice to sick a huge sticker right on my windshield, made it very easy to move my vehicle since it is a Sunday and nobody knows who to contact to stop my vehicle from being towed. Not to mention, the sticker took about 15 minutes to remove w/ a razor blade.

Be careful if they make any promises when you move in such as improvements to the building. The Middlebrooke lobby/Lower Level was a completely construction zone also for the better part of a year (upgrades which included a new laundry room and a gym which is now closed again).

I've worked with their corporate folks as well on a professional level and even they are idiots turning away good money.

They can't even figure out how to send me a new Lease so I can renew, I tried calling and e-mailing my difficulties to them and they are of course slow to respond. Clearly it is time to look for a new place to live and that's exactly what I intend on doing.

Update Lovely stock reply from Aldon below. Now they are taking me to court for a late rent payment which I already...
