The asian manager here was very very very rude i came her with my boyfriend and keep in mind ive been coming here with him since I moved to the bethesda area. Me and him always get the same breakfast sandwich everytime. But this particular day I went and asked for the same sandwich with turkey sausage on it and i explained it just like j always do. First it was the spanish lady who works for the manager rolling her eyes at me and having a attitude bc i don't think she knew that much english so she found herself getting frustrated at me because i was explaining. anyways thats when the manager came over bc she saw that the girl was being rude to me. Instead of the girl taking my order now it was the manager keep in mind i was very happy when i first saw the manager coming over bc i thought she was a very nice lady, I was wrong.. When she came over she said “Okay i know what you want no problem” then walked away and i told her thank you and that i appreciated it. 15 minutes later i came back inside the store to get my sandwich and when i got it i opened it to make sure it was correct. I do this with all of my food because i dont eat pork, only turkey. Anyways i opened it and it was cold cut turkey slices on it instead of the thick turkey SAUSAGE. On top of that it didnt have any of the condiments i asked for. No jelly or cheese just a toasted plain turkey cold cut sandwich.. I saw it and went back in to let her know. I was very polite i just went in and said “Sorry but i opened it and its not what i asked for” and explained what it was instead I then asked her if she could please make me another sandwich and i smiled… waiting for a response.. Out of no where She started yelling saying “No! thats what you asked for thats what you asked for!!” I was so confused because i was going there everyday with my boyfriend getting the same thing and initially when i asked she just cut me off and told me that she knew what i wanted and walked away bc the spanish woman like i said was being rude to me. Anyways i then told her “Well i didnt ask for cold cuts i asked for turkey Sausage and I would like another sandwich to be made bc i am paying money for this” Thats when she threw a temper tantrum and snatched the sandwich out of my hand and threw it on the floor screaming saying “No thats what you asked for and Im gonna call the police!!!” I could not believe what was happening. Me and my boyfriend were just standing there being respectful to her and her business. And she threatens to call the police on us when we did nothing wrong. I was so upset i didnt get it on video. It was so embarrassing and we felt so out of place because the entire restaurant was filled with people and she made us look like we were in the wrong. I really do feel like it was a race thing. Because everyone else in there were asian and white people. Lol … As much as i hate to say that. But i say iy because after We just decided to tell her then we want our money back because of her nasty attitude and after hearing her say she was gonna call the police on us. After going back and forth with her and asking for out money back. This white guy walks up to me and my boyfriend and he goes “This is a nice lady she doesn't bother anyone.. I can pay for your sandwich..” …. Like are you serious not once did we ever say we needed money to buy a sandwich. I looked at him and said “No we dont need your money. We have not bothered her she just has poor customer service and all we want now is our money back and she has already threatened us bc of that.” Smh It was crazy how everything went. We didnt do anything wrong. We just simply asked for a new sandwich bc the sandwich wasn't correct. How could a by stander see everything that just happened on both sides and not see that the manager was wrong in every way? Im gonna continue on another thread bc it still...
Read moreFirst I would like to say Thank you to the owner of Woodmont Deli for being awesome. This is my first review on Yelp and may be my last - I worked in the restaurant and catering industry for a decade - I've bartended and been a server - I've worked all over DC and Virginia and seen many types of extravagant foods and parties.
I'm new to Bethesda - the other day went to Woodmont deli for a BLT. I noticed Bulgogi platter on the specials and it was $10.99, after already ordering my BLT - I asked her how the Bulgogi was - she replied "Homemade - the best" . I looked at her and realized she was 100% telling the truth and then she asked me "want to try the homemade Kimchi" I replied "absolutely"!.
I eat ALOT of Korean food and have been for years - it's my favorite foods to eat. When I got home - my fiance and I both tried it and We are blown away by how good it is.
I went back and ordered the same thing 2 days later and will be going back every week until I can't make it because I've moved to far away.
Feel free to believe it or not but for $10.99 - the portion, quality , Service and love that's put into this meal - you wouldn't believe it. It is the best Value and meal I have had in 9 months of being in Bethesda. It may be the best meal and value I've had - period.
Please go support a local and family owned restaurant if you are able to - even if it's for no other reason than to get one of the best that you have had - at an unbeatable price.
Ask the lady behind the counter - "how's the Bulgogi and Kimchi?" just like I did - prepare to be WOW'd.
This is a 100% honest and...
Read moreMy wife is here for business at the NIH. We found this small deli near by a d decided to try it out. We have been here everyday for lunch. The portions are large we split a sandwich with a side of fries. So far we have tried the rubin (#4 and #5), chicken wrap (#1), and the steak and cheese. The steak and cheese is our favorite so far but all sandwiches are excellent. I would highly recommend. You know it's good when you see the same locals there every day. There isn't a lot of room on the inside, but we get there around 12:30 and have no issues. Best restaurant in town. The little old ladies work their butts off and the wait time is...
