I've been shopping at Hannaford in Biddeford for the past 4 years. The past few months the store seems to be falling apart. I recently purchased a Panera soup that was expired by a month( discovered only after I had eaten some). Last week there wasn't a single cart in the store.Even after they were made aware not one employee went outside to retrieve any. ONE SHOPPING CART!!! Customers were using two hand baskets with child in tow. The deli changes their hours everyday (7-6,7-5,7-6:15 etc)! If they're going to randomly close the least they could do is properly stock the presliced meats/cheese and salad. The rolls I've been purchasing from the bakery section for ever now have been hit or miss. But today they were literally balled up in a doughy mess. The fruit section is constantly bare unless of course you only eat bananas. I realize that Maine is experiencing a worker shortage but I don't see that as an excuse for a grocery store like Hannaford to be this inconsistent. The manager clearly either hates her job or hates people in general. This may seem like a harsh statement but after witnessing and experiencing her wonderfulness myself,I believe it to be true. I've seen her completely dismiss a man with a wave of her hand because he didn't speak English very well. That grossed me out even more than my expired soup!I happily helped him and can only hope he doesn't think all Mainers are that ignorant. The manager NEVER has even a hint of happiness on her face or in the tone of her voice. She's downright rude. I've been contemplating writing this for some time now or even calling corporate but I'm just one voice, one tiny person. So I guess I'm going to start shopping at the Saco Hannaford and hope they're a little more put together than what once was my favorite grocery store. RIP BIDDEFORD...
Read moreSo here is Bennie in his pouch and ready to come to the store with me. So I brought him to the store ( Hannaford in Biddeford) and I placed them in the cart as I always have, and I did my shopping as I always do, and have done for the last several years. Today I went to Hannaford with Bennie in his pouch with only his head being visible, and did my usual pick up a few things. Apparently there were some big wig corporate people in the store today, and I was approached by someone ( possibly manager ? ) and he told me that I could not place my dog in the cart. “ as I always have “ since forever. Needless to say I tried to explain to him that I have been doing this all along for years, and it was never an issue. He did not want to hear it, and walked away. I was so annoyed, I cashed out ( I should have just walked out ). In my travels to this store, I have seen many many people place their pets in the child seat of the cart, and have never heard of any issues. Needless to say, I will no longer be shopping at that store. Oh and BTW my pup is ESA...
Read morePaid $1.50 deposit on a glass jar of milk here! Glass is not my first choice for a milk container, but I needed something small that would fit in my cooler and they were out of the small cardboard and plastic milks (in whole milk, they had 1% etc). When I realized that I had been charged an extra $1.50 on my already overpriced milk I went back to the service desk. My only options for returning the container for my deposit were to either take a loss and return it to the clink service, or drive it back to the farm myself! My local Hannaford in NY would have made it right, but the girl working at the service desk thought it was funny. I know it's only a $1.50, but it's the principal. I am now the proud owner of a glass container that will remind me to never stop at this Hannaford again. For the $5 I ended up spending on that quart of milk I could have bought 2 gallons from Walmart! I went out of my way to shop elsewhere for the remainder of our visit, and when we come back to the area Walmart will have...
