On Thursday October 20, 2022 my wife shopped here for a new food for our 10 year old dog Keeza. Unfortunately she was met and served by an arrogant clerk whom lectured her about how it didn’t matter what dog food she got and there are no such things as finicky eaters. His words also included “to make sure that the dog knew her place on the bottom of the food chain.” Being local we try to support small local business. And this one being well stocked with a number of different foods we thought the sales person would be well versed or educated on the products they carry. Instead she was treated poorly, demeaned, and belittled by this clerk in charge of the store. Treated as an inconvenience rather than a local customer. Our dog had an accident when she smelled other dogs in the store. My wife asked the clerk if he had any cleaning supplies so she could clean it up but this request was met with a scolding and inappropriate questions about the age of our leashed dog. This upset my wife and she left this store in tears but also a bag of dog food with smaller kibbles to let Keeza try due to her difficulty eating large kibble. She had to do this on her own as her questions to the clerk were an inconvenience and were below him. We want to believe in the small town feel but will probably be using pet smart or petco for our pets future needs. Maybe he was having a bad day but scolding customers and not offering any insight isn’t acceptable in any retail setting. It also turned out that our dog does prefer the smaller kibble my wife picked out without the aid of that arrogant clerk.

Kibbles is THE place to go for pets owners in Blacksburg. They offer food, supplies, treats, and all for animal owners from dogs and cats to small critters. They have a huge selection of treats for pups and cats, all the way from natural mega bones to fill your own bag small treats. One MAJOR feature they offer as well is something I think every animal store should have, a full service animal wash. They have a full service bath, towels, blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, oatmeal shampoo, clips, brushes, scrubs, everything. They time how long you are in the wash area and that's it, they cover the clean up and set up, and while I still try to even pull hair from.the drain for them, they insist on usually doing it all. Absolutely love this place, will surely miss it when I move away.

Although Maggie truly doesn't like to be bathed, Kibbles on Main makes it less frightening and upsetting because of the set up. She is easily contained within a comfortable tub. It's the right height for me to reach her without my back aching. The shampoos and towels are within easy reach, waterproof aprons are handy so I don't get soaked, and the whole operation is clean, tidy, and cheerful. Maggie picks a treat as we prance out. The bath usually runs me about $10. Food, treats, accessories are all available at this locally-owned shop. All in all, Kibbles is my go to for everything I need for my happy dog.

I have shopped at this store for several years. I like to support local small businesses. Despite their customer service being poor, not very knowledgable about their products, not very helpful or friendly. They seem to approach customers as if we are antagonists. If you ask a questions about pricing or product selection they get defensive. I go once a month for my dog food and spend on the average $85-$100 per visit. And, despite their weird attitude towards their customers, I have continued to support them, even recommending them to friends because they are local.

I've had two unpleasant experiences. The first time I bought my usual bag of dog biscuits that you purchase by the scoop. I had inadvertently put in ONE scoop of the $3.99 biscuits with the 3-4 scoops of $3.49 biscuits. I was honest and told the manager. His comment to me was I would be charged the higher price, "That's the way it works!" or I could go fill another bag. I was surprised that one scoop with a price difference of .50 would illicit that sort of response. I took my bag and left.

I was hesitant to go back, but decided to do so. Then another incident occurred. I had purchased two chew sticks for my dog. When I got home I only had one in my bag. I called the store and was told there was not another one on the counter or anywhere they saw and that the owner who checked me out said he put both of them in my bag. I said I only had the one and they should offer me the opportunity to come back in and get one to replace the one I did not have. The manager on the phone asked if I wanted to speak to the owner and I said yes, then I was cut off!

Again, their attitude is that the customer is trying to cheat them out of something, or at least, that is they way it comes across.

Sadly, I will no longer be shopping at this store. With all the conveniences of online shopping I will be going to a retailer with consistent policies and good...

I’m a regular here and been shopping here for 2 years. I went in to buy a harness for my dog that I recently rescued and went home to find out it was ripped under the adjustment buckle. Went in to return it the same day and I believe the owner of the store, told me it was obviously chewed but who would go in there and show them the tear asking for a refund rather than hiding the tear! He was very rude about it. He then got the guy who sold it to me and he blatantly lied and said he inspected it before selling to me which was false because all he did was scan the tag in my hand. Extremely rude and even though I had the receipt and tag they refused to return it while being completely unprofessional and RUDE. Will never receive my business again! ALSO, My friend bought a bag of food there and had to take her dog to the vet because he got very sick on it after a day of using the food and they refused to take it back. She called the company of the food and they sent her a new bag and told her to return it to them and tried to talk to the manager at kibbles on main and he refused to help them! Again, extremely rude and unprofessional!

DO NOT SHOP HERE if you want good...
