(This place is ALMOST perfect - there is just ONE thing, and the owners already know it and they are planning to add it! I will get to that. The moment they add it, they get five stars from me!!!)
So, during lockdown 2020, I remember that the places I missed the most were NOT the places I went to all the time (which, at that time, was Starbucks - and the Starbucks drive thru was still open because they counted as ""essential workers""; those poor baristas, man), but rather the places I went to once in a blue moon (like small local coffee shops). So, when lockdown ended, I was like "I don't have to miss them anymore" and made it my mission to spend more time at small local coffee shops (and my other "once in a blue moon" places) and slowly but surely I stopped going to Starbucks all together.
But there was one thing - ONE THING - that no small local coffee shop I went to could get just right..... until NOW. Can you take a wild guess from looking at the menu? Answer: the pumpkin spice latte. Yes, no other small local coffee shop I have tried has gotten this drink just right... until the Coffee Labs came around. They nailed it and I will continue to come here now for all my pumpkin spice needs.
Beyond the pumpkin spice latte, this place is just genuinely wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the baristas are so kind. The owner always wants to know what I think every single time I try something new (or even, try something old in a different format - like when I get the pumpkin spice cold instead of warm) and every single time so far I've been blown away and I tell him so. My mom said it was the best cappuccino she has ever had in her life (she is 64 and has had MANY cappuccinos in her life) and that made the owner's entire week I think.
Everything I've tried from the menu has been amazing, the atmosphere is cozy and homey, and the people who work there are the kindest people ever.
So what is this one thing that stops it from being absolutely perfect (for now)? And I'll just go ahead and apologize to the owner/workers if you're reading this - I had to say something because people looking y'all up need to know about this. Sorry.
There is no black coffee. Not yet. The owner told me he wants to master the art of espresso and matcha before he adds black coffee. But he is going to add it to the menu - and the moment he does, I will come back to edit this review and I am positive I will give them a full five stars.
I can't wait to see them blossom. I truly hope this place sticks around. Based on the amount of customers coming in on a daily basis, things are...
Read moreNot exaggerating on the 5 star ratings across the board. All of the staff is so so SO kind and welcoming (which I appreciate so much; auto smile turns on speaking to the staff!) and always open to feedback (although there is nothing I could suggest for improvement, it's that great!), and I love the Palestinian decor even more!! I will say its a little intimate in terms of space, but in all honesty I think that's a plus since everyone is so welcoming and the environment is so much more cozy that way. I'm here at least 3 times a week and although it seems performative the matcha is SO good (I didn't even like matcha prior to coming here, so that's saying a lot). Come and bring all your...

Still working my way through all the drinks, but the essentials including espresso, cortado, and cappuccino are on point.
High quality fresh Red Rooster beans and skilled baristas make the best Cortado I've enjoyed in Blacksburg. Pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed!
They're also open late night Friday and Saturday, great spot to relax late night after...
