There are just a handful of stores in my community that I feel very strongly about. If you want nice stores in your community, then you have to patronize them. However, given the convenience and pricing of many online retailers, I think people are forgetting this. Walkabout Outfitters is one of those places where I spend my money, regardless of convenience and price, because I care about the store and want it in my neighborhood. I spent time with two sales associates at W.O. over the last week buying Christmas gifts ,(Thank You Brandon and Margaret!). Primarily due to their excellent customer service, and the way they treated my children, we spent $300 or $400 without even considering price. It turns out their prices are very competitive and we wouldn’t have saved any money shopping online retail, but to be honest, I didn’t even care because I want the store down the street from my home. All this to say, you’re really not gonna beat the prices, and there’s some things you just need to try on before you buy. Keep the store alive and visit it next time you need something...
