I have been going to arcs value village for 20 plus years. It is an amazing store but after today's encounter with a supervisor I doubt I will ever be going back. My significant other who is half deaf was in the larger changing room the one that is used for wheel chairs and disabled people. He didnt hear any knocking considering his hearing loss thats understandable. But then the supervisor started opening the door and why my significant other yelled i am in here the supervisor got accusatory and defensive and instead of apologizing asked why he didnt respond when he knocked. No one needs to disclose their disability, ever. Some disabilities are not seen. My signifiicant other was humiliated and embarassed and not once did the supervisor apologize, instead he called the cops on him and had the cops tell him they dont want him back. WHY? What did he do wrong? besides be upset that a stranger was walking in on him while changing. You could easily look under the door and see feet in these changing rooms. He did not need to open the door. What if it was a non verbal person? someone who is deaf? an elderly person? THen when my significant other called the store to ask why the cops were called he said to mecially check him? why? he left the store right afterwards. and if it was to medically check him then why have the cops tell him he didnt want him back in the store
WHERE IS THE EMPATHY AND COMPASSION ARC IS SUPPOSED...

Pulled up to donation door with the first of many loads to be donated from downsizing a residence. One car in front of me was being unloaded and pulled away just as I arrived. I ring the bell at 9:59 AM (according to my cell phone clock) as it appears they were open despite sign saying donations accepted between 10 and 6. Within a few seconds of ringing the bell an approximately 60 to 65 year old man wearing a safety vest and sporting a grey beard swings the door open in a violent manner and he screams "we don't open till 10!!" and just as violently slams the door shut. (If it's such a bother, you'd think he wouldn't answer the door in the first place). 🤷🏼♂️
Too bad for ARC, because much of what we were bringing in was new or near new merchandise.
So it's off to the salvation army I go. (Experience was much better at the SA, BTW!). 😀
Longer drive for me, but I will not be donating to ARC Value Village ever again!!!! If you're looking to donate your household goods, I would suggest you...
Read moreI came on Sunday March 2, I got a big toy for my toddler and I could tell the cashier ( a white man) starring at us the whole time we were making our way to the register. It was about 25 min before closing time, we went to the register and the cashier was helping out a white lady. He was having a good conversation with her and smiling. Once it was our turn, I’m Hispanic, he didn’t say hi after I said hi or anything at all besides the price and had a judgy weird vibe. He kept making weird sounds to us too. So we paid didn't care and then he helped out another white lady and again, he was so nice and smiled to her. He made me feel like he was watching my family and I because we were Hispanic and he thought we were going to steal. I’ve read another review similar to my situation. He made me feel so uncomfortable and kept making faces when my daughter was talking. Another guy working there just looked at us as we made...
