I threw my mom a surprise retirement party here, and it was great up until the end. The staff here really dampened the experience, myself + 4 other guests took notice and were pretty shocked.
I rented the “party room” at the front of the restaurant for 20-25 people online. That went very smooth. I got an email shortly after saying that my reservation was secure. I called the morning of the party and asked if I could come a half hour early to set up some minor decorations. The lady on the phone said sure no problem.
The party itself went great! My mom felt so special and she had a wonderful time. She’s been through so much in the last few years, so it was awesome seeing her so happy and celebrating this new milestone!
At the end of the party time, my husband and I were cleaning up the little decor that we had brought while guests were beginning to pay their tabs, say goodbye, and leave. We took down: 1 flimsy banner, 6 flimsy hanging spiral decor pieces, and our cupcake toppers. Nothing extravagant by any means. There were 7-8 small balloons that we had blown up and taped to the walls/on the banner. My husband and I quietly popped them one by one to ensure that the staff had minimal to clean up.
My husband didn’t realize that one of the balloons had that tinsel confetti inside of it, and when he went to pop it, it popped out of his hands. The confetti went all over the floor. We felt really bad about it. When the staff member came into the area to start cleaning a few minutes later, I told her what had happened and I apologized. I told her I could sweep if she had a broom, and she said no it’s okay! I continued to clean up as guests were leaving, and was nicely piling things into small piles on the tables for easier clean up. Again, trying to be polite to staff.
All of a sudden, some man stormed into the little area “excuse me, pardon me” walking through all of us/the guests. He looked at the floor, and then said “see, this is why we don’t allow confetti here, because now she has to clean it up!” I began to say that it was an accident, but he literally just walked off without continuing the conversation. At this point, I assumed he had been some sort of manager.
A few minutes went by, people said goodbye, and were just about packed up and leaving at that point. I then said to the staff member who was sweeping, “again, I’m really sorry about that! It was an accident with the balloon. We were trying to help you. Thank you so much.” The manager was behind me, which I didn’t know at first, but he then chimed in “well, whoever I spoke to this morning on the phone, I told them that we don’t allow confetti. And this is why.” And I said “I spoke to a woman this morning. I didn’t speak to you. I don’t know who you think you spoke to, but it wasn’t for this party.” And he continued to pursue negativity and was very stand off-ish in his demeanor.
Never once did this manager say “thank you all so much for coming!” Or “thank you all for spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars at our establishment, tipping our waitress a large amount of money!” Never once did he say anything positive that would make any of us want to come back.
The handful of us that were still there spoke outside, and we all felt that he was incredibly rude, condescending, and negative. It was far from a positive end to a wonderful afternoon because of this man.
Others in the group are planning on writing a negative review as well, all because of our interaction with this one man.
I hope he reads this and realizes that it doesn’t take much to just be kind to people. It doesn’t take much to just show some grace, and assume positive intention. He really dropped the ball here.
I hope his boss reads this and recognizes where he went wrong, and pursues improvement through corrective action of some kind.
Luckily, the food was delicious and our waitress was pretty attentive....
Read moreFood is fair. However the service is poor. Slow and rarely get refills on beverages or ask if we need anything. They drop food off then ask if its ok before we even taste it. Then wait forever to get a bill . I have to everytime go get napkins a takeout box clean up my own table. I walked last night with my husband up to get a table, another person came in after us but they assited him 1st for aboit 10 min. Then they took out information and we sat down. About 5 min later we were seated. Our server came and took our order after about 4 minutes we ordered everything at the same time. .we were brought our beverages a few min latet. Mind you drinks are 2 for 1. But my husband was only given 1 not two. He ordered a long Island and was not informed that was not included. We did not ask or fuss. Our food came after about 10 min. I had fries and a burgers. I took a bite of my fries andbthey were so salty i could not eat them. My .husband ordered all you can eat fish. And waffle fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was horrible! He did not eat more then 1 bite. He did eat all his fish but we were never offered another beverage or anymore fish. We sat there for about 35 min. Finished eating no one came by. So my husband went outside to smoke while i waited. And waited. I got up got my own take out containers. Stacked our dishes . Then a bus boy came buy cleared my dishes started washing table while i was still waiting to pay our bill. By this time my husband came back and said still not paid. We waited 5 more minutes finaly paid server. Five min later he brought my card back so we could leave. Never asked if we needed containers or more food or drinks and wsit wait. Our server probably had over 10 tables so not his fault. Totally understaffed. I tipped but realy not sure why? The server only came 3imes to take order to bring order to pay bill No difference then McDonald's other then slower and fries were bad. Will i go back??? Hmm maybe but seriously come back once in a while too see if we need or want more to drink if foods ok and to offer take home containers and at least acknowledge that when were done to not make us wait...

I could have taken the lazy route—strolling down the street for a quick bite—but I decided to spice things up with a trip to the suburbs. My prize for venturing out? Willy McCoy’s, a local gem known for its 95-cent wings and 2-for-1 drinks.
The Vibe Check When I walked in, the place was buzzing with laughter . The night was just too perfect to sit inside, so I headed up to their second-floor patio. Spacious. Breezy. And, best of all, no sardine seating. Plenty of room to relax without accidentally joining someone else’s conversation.
The Eats I kicked things off with the Poppy Seed Pecan Salad with grilled salmon—fresh, nutty, and exactly what I was expecting. Then came the Nashville Hot Wings, which packed a punch… of salt. A little too heavy-handed on the seasoning for me, but if you like bold, salty flavors, you’d probably love them.
Now, let’s talk about the Grande Nachos—and yes, “Grande” is an understatement. This mountain of tortilla chips could feed five people comfortably. They were tasty, but I found myself wishing for more sauce and cheese to pull the whole fiesta together.
The Service MVP A special shout-out to my server—fast, attentive, and one step ahead the entire night. Drinks refilled? Check. Food delivered hot? Check. That rare combination of efficiency and friendliness? Double check.
Final Verdict Willy McCoy’s is exactly what you want from a neighborhood pub—generous portions, a fun crowd, and a patio that practically demands a sunset cocktail. Sure, the food had its highs and lows, but between the drinks, atmosphere, and stellar service, it’s a solid spot for a casual night out.
Would I go back? Oh, you bet. Next time, I’ll just be trying a different...
