Don't do business with them... store manager was accusatory and deceptive when handling an issue.
Recently I had my child's apple watch (SE Model) screen fixed at Normal Gadgets. A few months following the repair my child jump into the pool with the watch on. After realizing what had been done it was immediately removed.
While the watch is water resistant of up to 50 meters (per the apple website) and 'swim proof' the workmanship of the screen repair was subpar and the screen was separating from from the base; allowing water into the watch; thereby ruining the device.
When I called to store to ask if anything could be done the store manager immediately told me the watch should have never been in the water to begin with as they are water resistant and not waterproof. This was incorrect; refer back to the apple website citing above.
He then informed me that the contractual 'fine print' states that the adhesive used in the repair process isn't the same as the factory and that there would be nothing he could do as a result. I guess the agreement is what comes up on the signature pad; and you need to be sure to take the time to review the agreement; on a signature pad while there are people waiting behind you.
My only ask to the store manager was to change the way they do business and disclose all of this verbally and not in the 'fine print'. A point he wanted to argue with me and only told me he would take it into consideration to get me off of the phone.
The way I was handled was unprofessional, accusatory and deceptive at best. Lesson learned.. if your apple watch screen breaks; buy a new one for $50 more than the repair and save yourself...
Read moreI took in a laptop for cleaning and a checkup. The cleaning was only $50, which seems like a great price. The laptop also needed to have the thermal paste replaced, which was an extra $50 (a little more than some other quotes I've seen, but to tune-up a four-year-old laptop, I think $100 is pretty good). The laptop does seem to run a little better and much cooler, though the fans seem louder for some reason (they noise might be settling down over time). The main reason this isn't a 5-star review is that the communication wasn't great. I dropped the laptop off on a Tuesday with hopes to pick it up on a Friday. I got an automated text immediately but heard nothing else until I called on Thursday. The person I talked to didn't know exactly what was going on with it (which didn't fill me with confidence) but said it looked like the maintenance was finished, and I was able to pick it up on Friday. I feel it would have been best if they had called me after the cleaning and diagnostic but before replacing the paste just to confirm that I wanted to spend the extra money (we had talked about it when I dropped it off, so it wasn't a big deal in the end). At the very least I wish there had been some notification that it was done and possibly some indication of how it went. Also, when I went to pick it up, they didn't bring out the cord with the laptop; I had to remind them I'd left it with them. Overall, I would recommend Normal Gadgets, but it would be nice if their communication with customers was a...
Read moreI broke the screen on my Samsung Galaxy S21 last week and my sister recommended Normal Gadgets to repair it. I found the staff to be approachable and knowledgeable. The manager was able to give me an accurate repair price and openly shared the cost of the new screen and service bill for the repair. I came back later in the day and dropped off my phone. I did not hear from them the very next day as they had to order the screen, but they called the next day after that before they opened to let me know the phone was repaired and ready to pick up. Upon arrival they presented the phone to me for visual inspection which I noted the phone looked like new. I made a call, tried the phone out in many aspects and all was more than satisfactory. NO ISSUES!! Although the repair cost was a bit more that I expected, they were still over $80 less than a competitor in town. I must also note that the cost of repairs was far less than having to get a new phone. After getting the phone back good as new, I am more than satisfied with this place of business and for me, they fulfilled their promise, exceeded my expectations, and provided me with a place I can trust for my repair needs for my treasured electronics. Look no further for your repair needs of your electronic gadgetry. Five golden stars and kudos to Normal Gadgets - One stand up business and an asset to the city of Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. For me, I am a...
