The facilities are convenient, up-to-date, clean (consistently by your staff...I always see someone cleaning something, modern, and plenty of parking. The programs you offer on your site are varied and there is something there for everyone, regardless of age, level of activity, etc. YOUR STAFF, FROM RECEPTIONISTS, TO CLEANING STAFF, TO INSTRUCTORS, TO PERSONAL TRAINERS (ESPECIALLY, IN MY CASE, ANN MARY) ARE AMONG THE MOST PROFESSIONAL I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN ANY GYM I HAVE EVERY BELONGED TO. I am 71 and have been going to gyms a long time, and have just moved here from out of state, and you "Y" is way better than those I had access to where we moved from. (I have been multiple locations, but Manchester remains top of the list for me.) Everyone is accommodating, welcoming (from the first time I walked in the door), helpful, and available, if needed. You are also truly living out your mission statement at this, and all of your facilities. Adhering o mission statements can present challenges at times, but you are all doing an excellent job of operationalizing DAILY the mission statement. While this pertains to all "Ys," the website is easy to use, intuitive, informative, and filled with useful information. I am grateful to have found you all! Thank you....
Read moreFor months, I’ve been working out weekly, while my son sits quietly in sight at a table (not in child watch). Just today, a staff member told me my son couldn’t sit there without me sitting with him. Her tone was dismissive and condescending rather than helpful and solution-oriented. This is after I asked for permission to let my son sit in sight my first week of visiting the gym. On a earlier occasion, I asked a staff member if my son could use the punching bag with his own gloves, and he said yes. Later, while my son was using the punching bag, a different staff member informed me he couldn’t use the punching bag. Both situations made my son and me feel unwelcomed. As a result, I cancelled my membership. I really like most of the staff (especially Ms. Lavonne who tried to help convince my son to go to child watch my first two visits) and the members, but unfortunately, the two staff members soured the experience for me. The solution is easy, be transparent and consistent with...
Read moreI have been going to this gym for 8 years, and the Manchester Y is my favorite Y in the area. The staff, volunteers, instructors, and management team is great. The price is very reasonable, especially for the quality of equipment and facility. I've loved all the classes I've taken, camps we've sent the kids to, child watch, and after care. The new remodel is amazing, and it was worth all the construction mess to have this state of the art remodel. I love the unisex and private shower/toilet rooms. So much better than the locker rooms with the thin shower curtains you had to hide behind. While the pool is on the smaller end, they maintain it well and it's perfect for lap swimming or water classes or lessons. This is where my little one learned to swim, so it holds a special place...
