I didnt read any reviews until after my experience, and some concerns are similar to mine. (I'm bride to be). I made an appointment for today to look and try on wedding dresses with my sister(MOH) to keep me company. I arrived 25min prior to my appointment, was greeted casually, as if walking into a convenient store. No enthusiasm, nor given a congratulations, or seemed excited or passionate about the business she is working in. I was immediately asked, strictly after my hello, what my budget is. (I've never been married or tried dresses on before.) so I was very comfortable and confident with my budget number. I was lead upstairs to the "off the rack" selections, which then later was described as used dresses. I did not get a tour of the rest of the shop, or given history or education about the facility. This young lady was educated regarding alteration price ranges and showed me some accessories, but as far as asking what my style dress I'm envisioning, or my size I may be...bottom line, she was completely useless when looking at dresses and she knew my selection(I guess) was limited. .. she literally stood there with no emotion, no smile, and had me feeling like I was inconveniencing her. I'm sure this facility is over all nice but I wouldn't know. So now I'm poorly fitted with a dress on and the quote of a USED dress is starting at $700, not including alterations. That's ridiculous. I recieved no privacy when I tried talking to my sister about the dress, the facility, our opinion on everything because this girl just stood there and listened, didnt even offer to help take the dress off and give us privacy to talk things over. My sister had to TEXT me. We left.... and went to David's Bridal, and because this facility shamed me on my budget, and had me feeling like my money wasn't good enough, I felt shy to tell another professional facility my budget. (An observation my sister made, not my own!) Needless to say, delete my contact information and I dont want any information from this place. Today, I said YES to my dress at David's Bridal, talked TO a seamstress too, and had TWO girls who were passionate about their position. They were honest, and respected my budget. My dress, alterations and even the accessories I loved all came out to be $500... and I'm NOT ashamed to say that, why? Because we are all on a budget, and some people have more or less than others.. and ladies, you deserve the time, excitement and the vibes of feeling flawless no matter the cost. Dont let anyone or any facility treat or judge you differently based on YOUR BUDGET, Babes! Skip this step, I wish I did, and just go to...
Read moreI just picked up my dress from Something Blue after my final alteration. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience with Something Blue.
During my dress search, I went for a weekday appointment. Weekday appointments have no fee, which was important to me. I was refusing to go to a salon that had an appointment fee. I was never rushed during any of my appointments. I seriously was waiting for them to kick us out at some point, but that never happened. They were very laidback with us and let us peruse the dresses and pull the ones that we liked. Even though they were laidback, this didn’t mean they were not attentive. I’m pretty sure my consultant was named Jackie, and she was right there with us the whole time to help with the dresses, answer questions, and help pull other items. I went back twice before landing on the dress I wanted and they were great both times.
Dress arrived in about three months, well within the timeline. I am an out of state bride, so I had to coordinate flights to come down and do dress things. They were very accommodating the whole time. I came down and tried on the dress and took it to my parent’s house (they are local to the shop) to wait for alterations.
They have seamstresses in-shop, which is great that they are a one-stop-shop for everything. I thought I was going to have to make a couple trips for alterations, but they said they could get it done in a long weekend. I was shocked. So fast forward to alterations time and I came down for a week to give some leeway. I worked with Kathy and she was fabulous. I was really nervous about the idea of cutting or altering the dress in any way shape or form, but it had to be done, it was too big and too long. She was like my seamstress fairy godmother. We ended up having three total appointments, first on Thursday, Saturday, and last on Monday. I flew out on Tuesday with the dress. They also steamed it for free before we left on Monday. If you buy your dress there, you get a free steam, which, if you are local, you would get some much closer to the wedding day. But I wanted to give it a good foundation before heading back, hoping that maybe it won’t be as wrinkly later with at least one steam.
I’d highly recommend Something Blue. Great experience with...
Read moreI had the most amazing experience here! I worked with Cruz--a wonderful bridal consultant who found my DREAM dress for me! I was visiting Florida from CT and went in here with my aunt just to try on a few dresses. I was looking for a specific designer and they carried many styles. We tried on a few dresses...in a few different styles and I wasn't overly excited about any of them. Before I changed, Cruz pulled one more dress that I would have never picked myself. I tried it on, just for the fun of it and I fell IN LOVE. I finally had my first "bride" moment when I put the dress on. We came back later that day with my mom and the minute she saw it, she also knew it was the one! We made an appointment for the next day (Saturday---they get very busy!) and my dress was there and ready for another viewing! She took all of my measurements and placed the order for my dress very quickly, which was perfect because we had to fly home that afternoon--we had a very small amount of time to be at the shop. All of the consultants were very friendly, engaging and in no way did they make you feel like you HAD to buy a dress. It was an absolutely wonderful experience--by far the best I have had dress shopping. I did not expect to go dress shopping while on vacation, let alone purchase one! I am SO glad we went in here! The shop is very clean and the dresses are all presented well. If we didn't live 1,200 miles away--I would have all of my bridesmaids in here to find their dresses! Thank you to Cruz and the entire staff--I am one...
