šŸ“Just a quick 5-minute drive from Bradenton Beach, The Shake Pit is a retro 1950s burger and shake joint that’s been serving locals since 1959. Food was expensive and not worth the price at all. The picture in the food plus a large root beer float and a medium milkshake all costed a total of $48 dollars. The fries were bland and soggy tasted store bought fries do not come with the purchase of a sandwich 1/10. There is no such thing a combo there. The mozzarella sticks were stiff and cheese tasted like rubber. Plus the marinara they paired it with tasted rotten 2.5/10. Onion rings were pretty good tasted beer battered and fresh still not the best 7/10. Double burger was alright I’ve had better burgers from Checkers, bun was super soggy 6/10. Chicken sandwich was super bland and dry. Tasted as well as a cafeteria chicken sandwich like a oven baked store bought chicken patty 4/10. Root beer float was pretty good but there’s only so many steps to make a root beer float. Ice cream in the float was really good not worth the price but taste alone 8/10. Marshmallow milkshake was also good a bit too thick to drink through the straw and awfully sweet but 6/10. It’s a cute spot to look at but that’s pretty much it has a nice vibe to it only to be shattered by the prices if you want to try the spot out I highly recommend only the sweets even then those feel a little pricey. The place is cash only but I’m not sure what your paying for if the food is below average and their isn’t really any experience to be had. You can easily get better food for a better price anywhere else. I would probably never come here again unless for maybe an occasional sweet. If you want a better experience from a similar establishment Shake Station on 301 in Palmetto will be worth more your time.

When I got to establishment everything it was nice and clean. You have to walk up and look at the menu on the windows. They have a lot of food to choose from. When I knew what I wanted I went to the window to order. The staff behind the window was very nice and friendly. She took my order and ask for a name. I ordered a strawberry milkshake and they had it ready within mins. Which was made with real ice cream and strawberries it was delicious and amazing. I also ordered a Philly cheese with French Fries. The only way you can pay is with the cash, but if you forget to bring cash they do have a ATM machine there. The rest of my order took about five or six minutes to come out. They take your order at one window and you pick up at another window. Pretty nice process, and the also have tables there where you can enjoy your meal. It’s outside but it do have two ceiling fans going. The wind blew some, so that was good as well. Everything was good I’m definitely going back to enjoy this establishment again. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone to enjoy.

I really tried to like this place, since located only a half mile from home, but the hours make it inconvenient, given that they are closed Tuesday's and Wednesday's and only open until 9pm Monday and Thursday.

The experience was Shake Pit centric and lacking in customer servicevof any kind. We arrived on our bikes, coming from the gas station where we stopped to get a drink...unless you've been living in a cave, I don't need to describe the record heat we've experienced this summer and hydration is super important - just a few days ago, my bf was suddenly stricken by heat exhaustion...it took several days to recover from that. He still had the styrofoam cup when we entered Shake Pit and sat down at the counter. After placing our order, he was told that he couldn't have that drink. I get it, we purchased it at the gas station, not Shake Pit, but come on...it's 90+ degrees outside!! And we were spending money!

The prices are outrageous...three of us visited and spent $40.99 on fries, mushrooms, a pork tenderloin and 3 small malts!! Imagine if we all ordered a sandwich!!

The cook fondled all of the food with bare hands. In fact, I didnt see a glove in the entire place. They brought three straws and two spoons for our malts.

We paid the bill as soon as we received our food. By that time we were freezing inside and we wanted to take our food to the screened in area. NOPE!! Can't do that. I guess they were afraid that we'd run off with the plastic baskets that the food was served in.

While eating the food, I noticed a thick layer of black gunk lining the fryer just above the grease. Having been raised in a food service establishment, I know that the grease in the fryer was changed recently...you can tell by the color and crispness of the fried foods. Clearly, the fryer was not cleaned while changing the grease. That was months and months worth of frying caked on the inside of the fryer. It's stainless steel and should never be caked with gunk.

The malts were good, albeit over priced. The experience was definitely unique, but not in a good way. I could justify spending over $40, if the experience contributed to the price in any way, but unfortunately nothing about the experience warranted my time or the expense. We...

This is a place to avoid like the plague! My girlfriend has been going here for 20 years and when I came down for the winter we went a few times. The fried food gave her the runs and the soft serve is terrible. This evening I went back for another try but I will never go there again!! The girl at the pick-up window messed up my order and gave me a little cup of whipped cream for my dog when I had ordered a kids soft serve and paid almost $3 for it. When I asked her to correct it she gave a hate look and said I would have to pay for it again if I wanted the order corrected. I told her I had already paid for it but instead of asking the girl at the order window she said I would have to talk to the manager and gave me an even worse hate look. I felt sick to my stomach and thought about calling a cop but instead I'm steering clear of that place forever. Go to Coco Joes down the street instead. The frozen custard there is amazing and the staff is super friendly. Even Culver's is way better. I think the health department should pay the Shake Pit a visit. They also hate dogs and won’t let you sit outside and eat...
