Branchburg location gets 5 stars. Flemington 1 so I’ll compromise at 3. Went in yesterday to get a specific item I had gotten in Branchburg. Didn’t see it went to the counter to wait my turn in line (1 woman helping a gentleman check out the other was speaking with another customer). Imagine my surprise when the 2nd woman sat down at the computer and didn’t acknowledge my presence. Ok maybe she was in the middle of something. I’m patient I’ll wait.

However, another customer walked in. She immediately greeted him by name (nice!) then stands up to help him. I said excuse my I was waiting for some help. The woman at the register said she’d be right with me. The other woman continues to help the gentleman.

I left. As I was leaving the woman helping the newest customer told me that the other woman was helping those at the register. I explained I wasn’t waiting to check out. My wife and I used to frequent the Pet Valu business before Barkley’s took over. After hearing that today was the revival of a local pet business, we had to stop by. We were warmly greeted by Dustin (manager) and Donna, both of which were always a help from the original staff. They wasted no time in making us feel welcomed, and they are well educated on the product available as well as how to treat various health ailments. I cannot stress enough the fact that if you are looking for a new pet store to call home, the team here will absolutely take care of you and your pets. This is hands down the most talented group of retailers that I have ever come across, and your trust will be fully realized. We will be repeat customers down the line! I stopped in here before picking up my lab puppy. As a first time dog owner, I had a basic idea of what I needed but was so thankful for the help of the people at Barkley's. The employees and manager were extremely helpful with explaining everything. They helped me pick up all the basics and some good chew toys, treats, and a collar and leash. This place might be a little pricier than buying from chain pet stores or online, but the attention and care from the people working here is so clear and makes it worth it. It's also really nice and convenient that they will deliver for free (for $50 purchase or over) to specific local locations.
