Most of these other ratings are so high, which brought me to choose this jeweler in the first place, yet somehow I ended up having an extremely negative experience with them. I never write poor reviews, but McAuley Fine Jewelry has brought me to the point of compelling me to share my story. I inherited my grandmother's diamond engagement ring when she passed, so I relied on the positive reviews I saw for this business, and I took it there to get the diamond reset into a pendant on a necklace. Multiple delays happened with the pieces they ordered from their vendor (which wouldn't necessarily be the store's fault and rather the fault of the vendor). BUT they didn't give me any updates at all unless I called them myself asking for the status, only to be told each time there was some new delay. What was promised to take only 2 weeks ended up taking 6 weeks. I could have been understanding of the delays had I been kept informed. So the lack of proactive communication was really poor service. They made zero apologies, zero discounts/credit considered, showed no empathy for a situation involving a highly sentimental piece, nothing done to make any gesture of good faith. I had to get a chain attached to the pendant, and I was extremely hesitant to try McAuley again, but decided to give them another chance and to finish the piece that originally came from them. The chain job was completed quickly, and then when I picked it up, there was no charge and I was given a receipt showing a $0 balance, and I wondered if they didn't charge for the chain because of the experience being such a shame on their part. But-- surprise! -- 4 days later, they called and charged the full amount of the chain to our card. And, as usual, they made zero apologies. I don't know how they can justify all of this unprofessional handling of the entire process, especially when it's a sensitive situation involving a highly sentimental inherited piece of jewelry following the death of someone so dear to me. I would not do business here again, nor would I recommend them to someone else. Rating 2 stars to give benefit for the quality of the piece itself and because a 1 star rating would probably just be dismissed as some crazy ranting person. But the lack of empathy and communication, especially with the amount of money involved and the sensitive nature of the situation was highly...
Read moreI was passed down a breathtaking ID bracelet from my late aunt on my 18th birthday. I couldnât wear it as often as I liked because Iâm a massage therapist so wearing anything on my wrists while massaging is a no no. So it sat in a jewelry box not getting the attention that it deserved. Well, I decided one day to have it turned into a necklace. Did my research beforehand because the bracelet is over 30 years old & I wanted to make sure it would be handled delicately & with love. When I tell you this place EXCEEDED all my expectations, they did just that & then some. Fast forward a few years, my almost 2 year old gave it a good yank & broke it. I was heartbroken! My mom ended up taking it back in for me to get it repaired & have a couple extra inches added to it because it was hard for me to get over there due to my crazy schedule. Long story short, McAuley did it again! They brought my necklace back to life! It is just as gorgeous & breathtaking as it once was. So, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to you guys for your beautiful work on my most sentimental piece of jewelry I own. I am eternally grateful! I know my aunt is smiling from the heavens on what phenomenal care you guys took of one bracelet now...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about McAuleys. They do make you feel like family for sure. They go above and beyond the call of duty and the quality of their work, even on a rush job, is amazing! My daughter graduated last night. Weeks ago i dropped off her grandfather's FBI service award ring to have made into a pendent. Two days before graduation i went to pick it up and decided it needed to have some rhodium accent on it since my girl wears mostly silver. They were very busy with all the graduation customers and told me it might not be possible to get it done so fast and that if i needed to, i could come get it so she could wear it when she walked. I was fearing the worst... Needless to say, when i called at 1pm as instructed (graduation was at 4pm), it was done!!! It was so beautiful!! I had purchased the perfect chain they helped me pick out previously and they put it in the perfect little box. I gave it to her just before she left for graduation. She was so surprised and delighted!!! Thank you McAuleys for doing such a quick and excellent crunch job! Youre the best!!! I am a...
