This is a very small but clean, cute and well decorated establishment showcasingl ots of German decor which I enjoy. They open at 4:30pm; we arrived a few minutes after 5 yesterday (on a Friday) and were the first patrons there but they were filled up fast by 6. Food: Pork Shank Special- I got this which was $26 now but well worth it because it is huge and absolutely delicious. I have gotten this many times and it is always so tender you can just pull the bone right out (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). Bread dumplings- one of 2 sides that came with the pork shank but I paid $1 extra to substitute Spaetzele which was fantastic. Sauerkraut- 2nd side that came with the pork shank and all I can say is WOW, definitely the best sauerkraut I have ever had and I could eat a bowl of this alone as a meal with nothing else. They also have the best red cabbage I have ever eaten in my life but I definitely enjoy the spaetzele and their sauerkraut the best! Still so surprised they charge $1 to trade sides since all the sides cost the same amount of money on the menu at $4 each but I will still do it and pay the extra to get what I want. Boyfriend got the Bratwurst which comes with 2 sausages, mashed potatoes with their delicious pork gravy and saurkraut. I tasted his bratwurst and again BOMB and definitely the best bratwurst I have ever tasted, will get this for myself next visit. Only downside is they allow no trading of sides at all on the sausage plates even if you pay the extra dollar which again I don't understand since the sides are all the same price on the menu and I would much rather have Spaetzele with the gravy than mashed potatoes.
We did not get the Schnitzel appetizer this time but we have before and it is amazing with great dip sauces and the extra touch of the delicious fried parsley it comes with makes it extra special. Recommend this appetizer.
Highly recommend this hidden local gem if you love German food or if you'd like to try...
Read moreI forgot to take dinner out of the freezer this morning,so we decided to go out. We go to a different place everytime we go out. Unless we really loved the place. Tonight was: Place: Taste Of Berlin German Restaurant Location: Brandon Price : $$
We started off with the pretzel with mustard to dip it in. 🥨The pretzel was fluffy, soft, warm and perfectly salted. The mustard was this amazing ramekin of freaking heaven.. sweet mustard with a tang.. you know how people use sweet dessert things in the bedroom when they want to "spice" things up?!? I'd imagine this mustard might be a viable option as well...lol j/k 🥔 see that photo of my 7 year old going to town on that soup?!? It was a potato soup loaded with potatoes, carrots and herbs. For all you parents out there.. yall know what I mean when I say this place did the impossible of putting a soup in front of my kid that we didnt have to argue with him about.
For entrees: My picky eater chose the closest thing that resembled mac and cheese.. It was the Kaese Spaetzle.. cheese spaetzle with melted cheese and and a side salad. My adventurous eater chose the pan fried pork with fried from the kiddie menu he loved it with the red cabbage on top of it.
My entree was the Rinderroulade. A beef roulade stuffed with bacon. Onions and pickles. Served with a side of spaetzle and red cabbage.. ( mix these two sides together and its freaking amazeballs)
Finished with the German Chocolate cake. Now let me tell you what .. usually if you put coconut anything in front of me I will gag a bit and politely send it back.. This cake was huge and slathered in coconut... I was the classic fatty and could not get enough of that cake. This is now officially the cake I want everytime I get the munchies.. God help my Uber...
Read moreI went there with my family after we checked into Walk Thru Bethlehem and we had about two hours to kill until our number came up. We already ate dinner somewhere previously, so we figured we would get an appetizer and share it among our family (me my wife and two boys). So it came time to order and when I tried to order the Kuriwurst meal ($13) for us to split, I was asked "is that all?" I said no, we might get desert and we are going to get some beverages. She then informed me that there is a "sharing fee" of $3 if I share my meal with my wife and kids! This of course bothered me, so I decided not to get the meal, and we only ordered drinks and a desert. The entire time we were there the owner (at least I thought she was) gave us dirty looks, it seemed she didn't like kids. Our kids are very well behaved, and one of the waitresses even said so. Regardless, when one of their favorite customers were leaving (the people they smiled at and talked with), they turned off the music. So we were kind of left there with no music, as a hint to leave. Which we did. I personally think a sharing fee is ridiculous. If there is a business problem where a restaurant feels it had to punish customers for sharing with kids, then there is a bigger issue. Besides, annoying customers isn't exactly the best business model. They also have a cash only policy for anything under $20.
I am sure the food is great, but people don't always eat for the food. They want a good German experience as well. I used to live in Heidelberg and Stuttgart, and I didn't feel this place was as friendly as the places I am used to. That is my two cents. Kind of disappointed, would like to have enjoyed...
