Book Lovers is exactly the type of store Brattleboro needs, as it’s exactly the type of store I grew up finding in Brattleboro. Ian, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming and will engage you in exactly the kind of conversation you hope to find in a small town bookstore. I popped in looking for something specific, a paperback edition of the complete and uncut The Stand, and wouldn’t you know it, Ian was able to pull that exact copy off of his shelf which turned into a 45 minute conversation about King and what is involved in him creating something “complete and uncut”, leading to a conversation about graphic novels, and the history of comics, and talking about stores from over the years that Brattleboro has lost.

This place rules! Stumbled upon it completely by chance while on vacation and was blown away at the wide selection and quality of books—while used and sold as such, most of what I saw and purchased are honestly basically new or barely used. The owner, Ian, is also an absolute gem. He is a super friendly guy, and super knowledgeable about his stock! During our conversation, he gave us a rundown of his more rare finds of first editions and older, pulpy sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks. Overall such a great store and proprietor, and one that made our stay in Brattleboro that much more memorable! Took a day trip to Brattleboro for some sights and shopping – I stumbled upon Book Lovers! The owner, Ian, was very welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable of both books and events in Brattleboro. I was able to find two yoga books that have been on my list – and they were an exceptionally fair price!

I enjoyed viewing the collection of cat books stacked on the coffee table. There was a stack of dog books as well which was jokingly called “the dog pile” by Ian. Very fun place! Check it out if you are a book lover! Looking forward to...
