Vermont Artisan Designs — Attraction in Brattleboro

It's the 2nd floor; a superb crafts gallery is on the first floor, but on the 2nd floor is one of the two highest-quality art galleries in the state of Vermont (the other being down the street and across the street, Gallery in the Woods).

This gallery is actually several galleries, each focusing on a different artist. Each is excellent, and some are great -- of a high enough caliber for top museums. For example, the popular artist Dane Tilghman is shown there, but not the images that are well known, such as of baseball players; instead, top-end paintings, which reflect the ordinary experience and culture of ordinary American Blacks, common working people who are portrayed without embellishment but with compassion. There is also David Brewster, Robert Brunelle, Wolf Kahn, Wendy James, Irma Cerese, and many more; however, the website does not show all their artists.

This gallery excels at showing a wide range of top non-abstract painters; but some of these painters cross over into abstraction that...

My friend and I were on holiday this past week. One of those days was spent in Brattleboro. We had just planned to stroll up and down the street, taking in each shop/store that caught our eye. We happened upon Vermont Artisan Designs. We visited the kitchen area and were ready to walk out...that is when our visit changed. Greg stopped us to say hello...and the next thing we knew we had a personal tour of the second floor galleries. He took the time to show us each and every room/gallery, and explained about each and every artist. It was amazing. I felt that we were taking up his valuable time....but his passion for for the art shone through. We will be back early next summer, and will return home with a very special work of art from his Gallery. Do not pass up the opportunity to see this very fine second...

I recently had a funeral service that I needed to attend in Vermont. I was down to the wire. The funeral was the next day, and I was in such shock from the death that I didn’t plan ahead orlook to get a suit.
