Strange Brew Tattoo — Local services in Brattleboro

Drove from Maine to Grant my daughter her wish for her 16th Birthday.....for her 1st tattoo. When we arrived we discussed tattoo design and Rachel drew up an amazing tattoo...exactly what my daughter wanted. She quoted us a price of 250.00. We were then informed that a different artist was on his way to do the tattoo. Our appt was for 2.....meanwhile 230 Johnny rolls in. I explain that this is her 1st tattoo. He doesn't talk to my daughter at all but instead talks and looks at his phone. Rachel gets my daughter prepared and she tells him the price of 250. Meanwhile they have my daughter awkwardly sitting sideto on a chair feet dangling for a forearm tattoo. He never engages in conversation with my daughter. .once he finishes the outline he blames my daughter for moving for lines that were shaky. I stood next to my daughter the whole time I can assure you she did not move. He then began to shade and began ranting about politics. He finished the tattoo....and Rachel asked him to check us out. He charged 350.00 for what took him 45 mins. There are areas of the tattoo where lines are not finished and areas he forgot to shade. What could of been the most beautiful tattoo will need to be touched up and finished someday. Very disappointed with the customer service...

Not a new story,,took our 17 year old daughter here for her first tattoo,a very large tattoo,,,my daughter spent alot of time on the phone explaining what she wanted,sent Rachel some ideas, and then left a life changing decision in Rachel's hands...2 days before our appointment Rachel sent Haley the outline,,,,all I could think was,,good luck with that..lol!!! But I had spoken personally with Rachel several days prior,,and I really liked the vibe she was giving me,,so we went for it...We did not know if we were going to have to hang out there for 6hrs. keeping close watch,But after seeing and speaking to Rachel for 5 minutes,,I knew my daughter was in very capable hands,and would be safe....Meet her,you'll get where I am coming from...End result,,,Rachel knocked it out of the park!!!! exceptional, intricate line work,,and absolutely beautiful use of many colors...She is a smart,sweet young lady,,cares about you and takes pride in her work,,I would recommend Rachel to anyone nervous about their first,,she's got you covered. Johnny treated us with respect,,solid man...just remember how important their art is to them both,,and respect the shop,,it;s got a lot of cool history within...will see Rachel again in...

I had just moved to Brattleboro and was looking for local tattoo places to possibly get a tattoo done at. Strange Brew was within walking distance and so I figured I'd go in to see about getting a quote for a price on a possible tattoo. The man who I assume to be the owner immediately made me feel like I wasn't wanted there and didn't seem very interested at all in trying to get my business. Customer service and friendliness was lacking and although the price seemed decent, having to deal with the owner certainly is not worth it. I won't be returning here ever again, and will instead be checking out other local tattoo places.

Quality: For all I know their tattoos are great (the website pictures looked good) but overall quality and experience from my visit led me to giving it a 0.

Appeal: Very clean and neatly kept store, certainly has the appearance of a great place to be in, so I gave that a 1 because it was at least well kept.
