I love this old fashioned amazing roller rink so much I wouldn't change this place for the world! I love watching my kids make memories and make best friends here at a place of my childhood that I had the best memories here with my mother and aunt taking me here as a child. The concession stand is truly JUST what it should be... childhood snacks to eat while making memories with your family and friends! This obviously isn't place to eat a full course dinner and steak so people need to stop complaining about the food and get over yourself. This is a place to make memories with your family and friends and a light snack for the fub.. Not to eat a steak or full course meal at.. people seem to have no life complaining in line and get over yourself! The pizza is amazing and always hot and fresh. I always see the staff working so hard and so fast to serve food to everyone and make everyone happy. 10 stars for the staff at this place!!! Anyways, the staff is one of the best parts of this place too & makes our family nights here skating complete with their amazing, hard working and friendly staff. They are always so friendly and sweet and welcoming to all who come in the doors! Miss D, Rachael , Miss Debbie and Mr. Sledge are only just a few to.name that are such hard workers and so loving and kind to all who walk through those doors! They also decorate the rink front hall way for every holiday and makes it so special when you walk in the doord . I'm blessed and happy to call this place my kids and I home away from home to take my sons Alex and Angel to skate family nights with family and friends and to make childhood/ family memories together and to be making friends here to last a life time forever. I thank God the day I walked back in this door again since I was a kid and took my sons here to skate at my favorite place since childhood. One of the best decisions to find this place again to come back to take my kids to skate where my mom used to take me and one of the best days of my life coming back here! Thank you Tinley Park Rollerrink and all of the staff for all that you do to keep.this place alive and taken care of and thank you for the memories then , now and until forever. I'm praying someday for my sons to be able to take their kids here someday too! We will be back next week for our family skating night and can't wait to come back. Thank you for all that you do Tinley Park Rollerrink ❤️ if I can I would give 100 stars to...
Read moreI agree and disagree with most of the reviews about this place, I'll try to be as detailed as possible. Not sure how much my credit with voucher for this but as a skater, former employee and dj from 3 different rinks.
went Saturday night 1/10/15 for the first time. I was the one wearing the white Hoodia and jeans jam skating.
PARKING: not the biggest lot but managed to fit the all vehicles for the guests.
BUILDING: it is outdated and it does need a remodel but again, not the worst I've seen. It is dusty but there are skaters and carpet... their bound to circulate that around. by the end of the night, I've never seen a spotless rink by the end of the day. that's why they do a full wipe down daily.
Someone mentioned the smell, the only time I smelled the "old fashion" was after I got my ticket to enter, febrese would be nice. other than that, it had that distinct typical skating rink smell. nothing too intoxicating lol
So I think the only one that will have a problem are germaphobes, there was a lot of people and all seemed to have a good time.
LAYOUT: The idea is nice, each private party had their own little area to celebrate and separate from the general crowd. only problem is, the snack bar is behind a wall from the rink. so someone who just wants to sit in the snack bar, you can't watch your child. But in a company standpoint, you eliminate the chance of someone spilling their drinks or food on the floor. I've seen it happen!
SKATES: I had my own skates unfortunately but from what I saw, they all look the same in any rink. the inlines are new to me though, looks like regular quad boots with inline wheels.. never seen that. but all seemed functional.
FLOOR: I did some line drills, jam skated, break skated, backwards, did some spins and speed skated. No problem there, not bumpy, it was smooth and not that slippery (dusty). so I think they take care of it.
DJ: As a DJ myself, it's very hard to please EVERYONE 100% of the time. the DJ wasn't exactly filled with enthusiasm but the variety of music was good, with the multicultural visitors I think he did a good job.
hopefully this clarified a few things, if I missed something I'm sorry! Lol
but to sum things up, this isn't the best I've been to but it sure isn't the worst. so yes, if you're in the area and want to skate. I'd recommend...
Read moreThis place is desperately in need of some TLC! There are rules posted everywhere and the DJ even announces some of the unposted ones, but there's not a single ref to enforce any of them. As a result, there are clusters of kids just standing around on the rink floor anywhere they feel like, nobody guarding fallen skaters to make sure they don't get hurt, food and drink everywhere in the rink with nobody cleaning up the debris, and kids skating in and out of the place like they own it. The floor is so dirty that after two hours my wheels were absolutely covered in a black sticky grime that I had to physically scrape off and you could see all the rental skates were also covered in the same goo.
And through it all, the owner sits placidly in his little money-taking booth watching TV, wearing enough rocks on his fingers to make Liberace jealous. Obviously, he has enough money to maintain the rink properly. Equally obviously, he just just doesn't give a flying f---. I've been skating for 35 years and never have I seen a rink in such a pathetic state as the owner has let Tinley descend into. Shame on you,...
