Staff has very poor internal communication, and the owner has a hostile and elitist mentality and is unwilling to consider interning artists who want to enter the tattooing scene if they themselves don't yet have tattos.
Just because my parents were authoritarian religious zealots and I haven't settled on a design and artist for the tattoos I want (much less, had the spare funds or time to get them) doesnt mean I am not interested or motivated to join this vibrant community in my own way.
With an expansive collection of high realism art in my past and present and a multitude of friends and aquaintances who are heavily tattoed and had expressed interest in obtaining such services from me (should I get the opportunity to intern) this was something I had been considering for years, and was excited to finally seem to have an opportunity for.
To be fair, as someone with autism, I struggle in certain social situations, in particular, in new environments. And I used an entire day, travelling from Northgate via public transit, to follow up on an interning opportinuty navigated via the website's official emailing chanmels over the last week because a coworker who has recived many tattoos at this location pushed me to pusue them specifically because of how much she trusted and enjoyed the shop. Due to the noise and unfamiliarity of the commute, I arrived with significant levels of burnout and had a harder time than usual articulating clealy with the initial staff but still, I was overall excited and optimistic given the communication up until that point.
The initial desk staff having no knowledge of the interning opportunity i had been asked to follow up on wasn't too off-putting, but when the owner, who Reeked of weed, was brought out and he too knew Nothing of the communications, that enthusiasm was rapidly displaced by unease. Then, when it was apparant from scratch that he wasnt so much as weakly considering it after determining that I was still a blank slate, with difficult to curb upset. I just felt completely excluded, dismissed, and as though I were being talked down to by the staff rather than having anything pertinent about the process explained. The baltant lack of professionalism caused me to waste an entire day to public transport and left me exiting in tears from his attitude regarding the entire thing on top of my burnout.
While the quality of the art from each individual artist speaks for itself, and I in no way want to tear down the clear artistic skills of the people here, I cannot in in good faith reccomend this location to anyone seeking an opportunity to intern who believes that the tattooing scene should be a welcoming and inclusive...
Read moreI emailed the shop from their form on their website, I got an email maybe an hour later answering all my questions and then called the shop to set up a consultation.
I met up with Kyle the owner for a few and we talked about what exactly I was looking for. I showed him pictures I was inspired by and the style I was aiming for. He made me feel confident that I'd made the right choice.
I went back a month later for my appointment scared and nervous (this was my first tattoo) when I saw what Kyle had drawn up I was stoked. I couldn't believe he drew up basically what I was thinking in my head.
The shop was clean, everyone was SUPER friendly, and great music playing and I love the fact that they're trying to bring more to Bremerton.
I highly recommend this place. I couldn't be happier and I can't wait to schedule...
Read morePut down a $100 deposit to have some work done and scheduled a date. The artist ended up canceling on me and we couldn’t find a date that work to reschedule. Fast forward through Covid and after they opened up I reached out to get scheduled and the artist could not only not remember me, after I told him I had placed a deposit and started to give him additional information he stopped responding to me for over a month, at which point I contacted the shop to ask for a refund of my deposit. Long story short but they will not be giving me my deposit back, I was bashed by the artist for expecting him to remember my tattoo, and was treated absolutely horrible. I will never ever recommend this shop to anyone, no matter how talented the...
