Box of Maine — Local services in Brewer

Do NOT purchase a Box of Maine to ship overseas. It will arrive weeks late or not at all. I live in Ireland; my mom in Maine. She ordered a box to be delivered to me 2 Christmases ago. It arrived about 3 weeks late, but at least it got here. This year, my mom placed an order on 12/1 and it STILL hasn't arrived. The company has taken NO responsibility and offered no remedy. They've said we need to "go talk to customs." We don't have a tracking number or anything. We've never had this problem with any other company or individualand gey things shipped/sent here all the time. First off, they insist they can't ship it to our actual address because they can't find it in their system (???), so my mom had it sent to my husband at the nearby hotel where he works. Nothing. Never showed up. My mom literally threw money away and is upset that I never got my gift. Box of Maine has never even offered an apology, let alone a refund for a gift that never arrived. In contrast, I ordered a "Paddy Box" from a company here in Ireland, to be sent to Maine for Christmas. I ordered it on 12/14 and it arrived on 12/23. Box of Maine told my mom she needs to order on November 1st next time. There will surely never be a next time....

My daughter loves Whoopie Pie Cookies. We are from Ohio and when we planned an east coast trip her goal was to find a great one (because I make great ones). She has tried everywhere she goes if they have them and is never satisfied, but she was sure she would find a great one in Maine. We were there for four days and I don't know how many she bought and none were to her satisfaction. On the day we were leaving we dropped my other daughter and my son off at the Bangor airport and our plane wasn't set to leave for three more hours, so we decided to go on one more Whoopie Pie Cookie hunt. Somehow we found Box of Maine and she finally found a great Whoopie Pie Cookie. While we were there we checked out the boxes and I decided to send a box to each of my (adult kids) that I took on this trip. Three days after they got home there were surprised with a little bit of Maine as a perfect end to our east coast trip. So, if you're killing time near the Bangor airport stop in and check it out.

I thought I would remember the gentleman's name that waited on us because he was so helpful and nice, but alas I forgot...

After spending nearly 2 months trying to get my package out of the FedEx 'lost' hold and sent to the correct address (wrong address was my mistake) I was advised I needed to reach out to the company that sent the package on my behalf (btw, it took 5 reps to get the correct information). I sent a lengthy email to Box of Maine explaining my dilemma and requested their intervention. Unfortunately, after working with their FedEx contacts, they were not able to secure said 'lost' package either but they did offer to resend the package, at their expense, which I greatly appreciated and willingly paid the shipping. They didn't have to do that, after all it was my mistake. Just goes to show you what a good business will do for their customers versus a place like FedEx that really does not care and has farmed out their customer service to an offshore partner that cannot even give correct information.
