This hotel is hit or miss… If your room is on the backside of the hotel, the HVAC fan on the roof of the pool makes your sleep literally impossible. I had to keep TV on all night so it would cover this turbine alike noise from outside. Pool itself is off from 11PM to 7AM, but the ventilation system works all night long, and seems it is not in very good condition as it gives a bad vibrating noise. Update: I have downloaded the dB app to measure the noise - it was over 50 dB!!! According to hotel standards, it should be no more than 30 dB. Otherwise, it stops guests from falling asleep or sleeping well, noise as one of the top concerns for guests…

As a Marriott loyal I would stay in this hotel. We stopped here to visit the restaurant, Timber which was incredible and not your typical mediocre bar at a hotel. From what I've read online Timber is THE place to go in Bangor if you are celebrating something special, or just want a great meal. This restaurant is kid friendly for sure and also has a kid menu which they don't have posted online. When we walked into the lobby of the Marriott we were hit with the smell of chlorine and my kids were hopeful that we would be staying there! The hotel lobby is big and clean.

Quite the lovely hotel. The rooms have all you need, kitchen, desk, spacious bedroom, vanity, and bathroom. Good layout. Pool, hot tub, gym, and restaurant. It really has all you need. My only annoyance is the TV, the system is super slow, remote to screen is inaccurate and delayed. Also, the products in the bathroom are over scented, made my eyes burn and I got nauseous from them. Otherwise highly recommend.

We entered the suite and got our things unpacked while we turned the bed sheets down and noticed black hairs on the pillow and on the sheet ( sheets also had holes in them ) . We called and got new bedding delivered and we remade the bed ourselves . While trying to overlook this we checked into the cleanliness of the entire room and bathroom and were completely disgusted with the lack of any effort to clean this area . There was a thick layer of filth on the top of the refrigerator and dirt in the draws where the dishes and cups were stored and there was a funky smell inside the refrigerator . I had brought disinfecting wipes so we wiped every surface we could including the entire bathroom . When we made the front desk aware of these things they said they were sorry but did not offer to rectify the situation other than that . After all this my wife went to wash her face and the water was a white milky color and smelled awful when we complained about this we were told no one has ever mentioned this in the past and did not know what it was . When we went to lay down I realized the heat would not shut off I called and was told they had to come in the room and shut it off I disagreed because I looked in every panel and the control panel does not have a way to shut it off . So all night heat blasting so hot I could not breath ( I am disabled with COPD ) so this was not fun I reported this situation again the next day and they agreed to have a person come up to shut it off well this person did what I thought and went to the control panel and could not disable it so I had to suffer again . As far as the mattress it was not comfortable at all it sunk in when we got in and felt like there was no support in it making my back extremely sore . The condition of the bathroom was not great the wallpaper is falling from the walls . We tried to resolve this with the manager David but he was not in so the acting operations manager told me she could not do anything to help us with this so I got a call the next day by David whom I explained all this too and he offered me a discount to resolve this I disagreed with this due to being charged $500 for this room I did not get what I paid for and a discount was not appropriate a full refund was more appropriate for us to offset the loss of not being able to do the things we set out to do while here and could not prepare our own food under these conditions and had to get take out the entire stay. I was given his supervisors name and was told there is nothing that he will be able to do for me that the Marriott does not manage this hotel it is owned by someone else . I will not except this as an answer and will get to the proper person in charge but do need to warn anyone wanting to stay here to be aware of these conditions...

This is a nice, newer Residence Inn. Staff was great. Hotel was clean, with many amenities, especially in-room. Breakfast was better than average for a free hotel breakfast. The room was exceptionally quiet, as well. We heard essentially no street noise, and the HVAC unit was enclosed in its own wall, making only for a low hum and some fan noise. I really appreciated that, compared to the loud window units that many hotels seem to use.

My only real complaint is the beds. We had a room with a king bed and a sofa bed for a party of 2 adults and one child. The king bed was so soft as to be mushy. Both my wife and I woke repeatedly throughout the night, and woke up tired and sore.

The sofa bed was abysmal - even for a sofa bed. The sofa, itself, was very comfy. The bed, however, had the thinnest, lumpiest, most useless mattress I've ever seen. No exaggeration; it was literally the worst sofa bed I've ever had the misfortune to lie on. Fortunately, I only tested it our for a few minutes. Our son, though, had to spend the night on it. He also reported waking throughout the night and feeling bruised in the morning. We've stayed at other Residence Inns before specifically because they have this king + sofa bed configuration. None of the sofa beds have been as bad as this. Maybe our kid is just big enough now that he's sinking in, and needs the support of a real bed? Whatever the reason, we'll definitely be looking around for other - and hopefully cheaper - options with two queens from now on.

Two other minor gripes. Firstly, watch out for inadvertently accepting the paid internet option instead of the free one. Someone in our group did that by accident (which requires only knowing a room number and last name), which resulted in a charge. The front desk was accommodating, however, and removed the charge.

Secondly, the thermostat would aggressively switch between heating and cooling if the room temperature exceeded a narrow range. For example, we had the room warmer in the evening, then turned it down for sleeping at night. When we did, the AC came on - and the outdoor temperature was in the single-digits Fahrenheit! The thermostat should be set to heat-mode in the winter, and cool-mode in the summer, like a normal thermostat. It's both unnecessary and wasteful to run the AC like this in the winter.

Overall, this is a great property, if you can tolerate the beds. We might be back, but will definitely try other options in the area again...

We have stayed numerous times with Marriott, being Gold members the past few years. We were very excited to stay at this brand new hotel. The restaurant was not yet open and didn't look like it would be open for quite some time. The lobby is beautiful and staff was very friendly. The breakfast was pretty good as well with a variety of things to pick from. We got down there just before they were to close, but stayed open so my children and I could get breakfast. In the morning we used the pool and whirlpool. Both were great and very relaxing. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We had a room with 2 queen beds, which according to their website were the largest rooms. The beds were SO high though. It made it very difficult to even get into bed. I can not sleep laying down so I was going to try sitting up in bed, propped up with pillows but I couldn't even get up there. I then tried the couch but that was SO hard! The couch in our room did not have the lounge part like the pictures on the website show or an oversized chair like the description said. So, it was very difficult for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. I woke up so sore. You also can't change the temperature in your room to what you want it to be unless you call the front desk and have someone come up and override it. Our room kept getting warmer and warmer.....at the highest it was 78.5 when we usually keep ours set at 68. It didn't get down to that until around 3 am. Because of the heating/cooling issues and the very poor sleep, we will not be returning. That's not to say that others shouldn't stay here. It just didn't work for us and honestly quite disappointed that our room didn't have the features in it that were pictured...
