Back in 2002, we bought a California Contemporary ranch home by notable builder Donald J. Scholz. Not understanding the historical significance of this treasure at the time, we decided to “update” the house. For the next 15 years we struggled with regret. We didn’t want an ordinary, lackluster, “big box store” fix so we went on a mission to find just the right person bring our home back to its original glory.

One project we had to tackle was rebuilding the half wall room divider that was in our entryway. Only this time, instead of a planter on top like the original, we wanted something more functional but still in keeping the mid century feel of the house.

After searching long and hard, we found woodworker/artist Noah Hosburgh from Hosburgh Custom Woodwork. We drew a sketch of what we wanted and showed Noah some photos of original Schulz homes.

After a few months, our long-awaited room divider was installed! This one definitely has more personality than the original. Now now we have storage hidden behind doors using SparkleLam and a cool, mid-century top!

We hired Noah to transform one of our rooms into a custom-built library. He did a phenomenal job taking our ideas and designing, building and installing it; including the lighting and painting.

He was great to work with, and listened to every detail we asked about, and was fine changing or adding things that didn’t work for us.

He was very precise in his work, and guided us through the process and offered ideas that added to the project (which we would not have thought about ourselves).

He kept a very neat workspace (drop mats to protect our floors, shop-vac to clean up the dust, and plastic to keep any dust from going into other rooms of the house), cleaning everything up before finishing for the day.

He gave us ample notice of when he would stop by to do work.

In the end he created a masterpiece and we could not be happier with the results.
