My review is mixed because I had great experiences and heartbreaking experiences with this company. I waited several weeks to write this so I was no longer as emotional. I hired them to do a "clean out" of my Mom's beloved home. Greg, our sales guy, was personable, respectful and sensitive to the situation as it was emotional for my Mom. He told us which items they would sell and which would be donated or trashed. He stressed the fact that the company is very "green" and would make every effort to donate before trashing items. When the clean out team arrived, Zack rejected many of the items Greg had said would sell. When I asked him what would happen to some of the items I deemed valuable and usable he said they would be "donated". They loaded 80 year old solid wood headboards onto the truck and I asked them to remove them from the truck as they were a family heirloom and we wanted them. Later on, unbeknownst to me they loaded them again. When I contacted them the next day, I was told they were in a landfill. It turns out that of all the items they told me would be donated, only a small amount of the items were because they only go to one Goodwill and, per the owner, they know "exactly what they will take". Many of the items they told me would be donated but were dumped in a landfill would have been gladly accepted by many charitable organizations. I trusted them and they lied. Now, the positive aspect of their service is that the clean out team worked fast and were polite and respectful. However, as you pay by how full the "donation" truck is, our charge was $600 above the quote. Mostly because items that Greg had said would sell were trashed instead. I felt sick to my stomach knowing that things that people in need could have used are in a landfill and that our family heirloom is also there. I asked the owner for a partial refund and was denied. I am heartbroken because I trusted that when they said something would be donated, it would be. The owner said the team had a different memory of the events. Of course they did because they were covering their butts. If you are someone who wants your loved ones items to go in a landfill, Transitional Design is your company. If not, do it yourself and...
Read moreBuyer beware! I purchased an item via auction and upon picking it up it did not meet my expectations. It was not in the good condition it was descried and also did not appear to be the material that was described online. Be advised you have to pay for these items in advance (it's an auction---I get it) but you also have to sign for the item at the store before seeing it. I asked if I could use the $30 I had already paid for the item and transfer it to a store credit; the first person I asked stated he would need to check on that---so it obviously it wasn't an automatic "no" and it did not appear to be a store policy. Then an older female employee came over and condescendingly stated I could not transfer it to a store credit and overall she had a haughtiness about her. If it is their policy---ok, but clearly that was not communicated to all employees and while it may have been on the auction site, I do not recall reading that specific policy when bidding. The patronizing attitude of the female employee really turned me off. To make things more interesting, I posted a facebook review simply saying I had a poor customer service experience. They responded to my review saying, "This appears to be a fake facebook user profile." Because I gave them a poor review, it MUST mean I'm a fake account!?!?! The fact that they discredit my opinion simply because it was not in line with their own opinion speaks volumes. Again, their attitude of superiority and poor customer service shines through! To any of you who may shop there---I suggest you go to the store to view the online items before bidding, so you can ensure you are bidding on something you actually want. In the end, I left without my item (had no need for it in the condition it was in) and am out $30. Considering I was looking at purchasing a $1100 bedroom set prior to my interaction with the female employee, I find it laughable that they refused to give me a $30 credit. They did have some nice items in their shop----but the pretentious nature of just the one employee will result in me never returning. I'll make sure I tell my friends to...
Read moreThis organization was entrusted with collecting and reselling my parents estate. I had to ask multiple times for a signed contract. Upon collection of my folks belongings, I noticed numerous items missing from the inventory ... including a full living room set of sofa , chairs and coffee table -- not to mention a set of China, and a full kitchen of appliances and silverware I was assured they would resell. Upon questioning, the owner could not account for these items, and became defensive and dismissive of my inquiries. Clearly someone profited from these missing items, which I would have preferred to donate to charity like I did the vast majority of their estate. It is OFFENSIVE to think I was deceived and my parent's items misallocated. I have photographic proof of these items in question. Do not use this organization which profits on the backs of the grieving, and then tries to shift responsibility a responsibility...
