T.J. Maxx — Local services in Brookings Township

I used to work at a T.J.Maxx and adore the selection. When it was time for me to go to the fitting room to try on my clothes, the fitting room lady told me I had 5 minutes to try on 6 of my items. I had a few dresses and shirts.

I looked at her in disbelief and repeated what she said as a question, "I have 5 mins?" She rephrased."Yes. 5 mins." I said,"idk if I can for 6 items. I can try, but idk to be honest. " She just looked at me and gave me my number. I went to go change, and while I was on my 3rd item, she came into the fitting room saying, "Lady with 6. Ur time is up. Come out! lady with 6" and left.

There were a few people in the fitting room prior to me and questioned what happened. After the fitting room lady left, They asked each other why that happened and proceeded to continue changing.

That's so insane with me. I've never experienced such a rule before. After I tried on everything (a total of about 15 mins), I only wanted 1 item. I came out and looked at the fitting room lady. She didn't look bothered at all about me being late and just told me to hang up the unwanted clothes and hang up the number away even though she was standing behind the counter. I've nevered had to go behind the counter and hang up the number before like that. That rule was so odd to me. After hanging up my unwanted clothes, I just handed her the number so she could do it. She hesitated but eventually took it.

After I bought my things and went to the car, I asked my husband if he was asked to do those things when he went to the fitting room since he just bought clothes. Maybe it's a new rule I was unaware of. He said he went into fitting room to try on his clothes with no such rules. She even took his clothes and said, "Thanks." I am in disbelief this happened.

While waiting to see a doctor in Brookings yesterday, we went into TJ Maxx to kill some time and look around. I suffer from PTSD and as a result I carry my service dog with me everywhere I go. Upon entry to the store, instead of the harassment and problems I usually have to go through, the employees greeted me, my lady, our son and my partner Ringo with smiles and a total welcoming feeling. For anyone that has a service partner with them, I highly recommend this store. The staff made us welcome and treated my partner like a 4 legged furry king. They STEAL from their employees. They lock up the employees in the office for hours and don’t let them leave until they sign falsified documents. The managers got fired because they were stealing money from the store and now they are taking the employees paychecks trying to make up for the MANAGERS discrepancies. They recorded this but will not allow any employees to have copies of any paper work or documents. This place needs to be shut down ASAP and all employees need to lawyer up.
