Finding a decent and reliable person to cut your hair is always difficult for me. Usually, you find someone you like and you stay with them as long as you can. Once you lose that person, or they become unreliable, then you are left going from barber to barber, looking for the next person you will use for another 10-15 years, hopefully. I am relieved that I finally found someone that can cut my hair and also be reliable in doing so. So many barbers, in my experience, take advantage that they run their own business and decide to not show up to work, or be late. This is especially aggravating when the barber has a regular clientele. If I come to your shop regularly on Fridays, and you decide not to come to work that Friday (which is a vital money making day for a barber. For God's sake it's a payday), what is the customer to do? Obviously, find someone better, and that is what Elizabeth does. She has been cutting hair for many years, originally on Lorain Road, but now, thankfully, in Brooklyn on Ridge Road, just south of Memphis. Her daughter has a travel agency within the same building, and I believe that she also does tax returns, as well. So, in this one stop shop you can get your hair cut, file your taxes, then book a vacation to Puerto Rico with your tax refund. I'm happy that they are in my neighborhood and I'm happy to...
Read moreI found this establishment through a Google search. It was easy to set up an appt. They set me with someone who didn't speak English, but there was a woman who translated. The issue was she was washing my hair like she was washing a dirty towel, water was freezing and going everywhere. She was so rough!! I tried to communicate "too rough" and wasn't able to get my phone to help translate and there wasn't anyone who spoke English around me. I ended up getting a bruise on the back of my head. There were no products used at all it even felt like she wasn't using shampoo and I'm not sure she used conditioner. I asked for a trim and the bulk in the bottom to be thinned, to which the translator asked if I wanted a bob. I said no. I wasnt able to relay where my part was so she cut down the middle. No heat protectant or product of any kind at this point. I have a lot of fine hair and the high heat hair dryer was more the level for thick, full, curly hair who wanted a blow out. My head clearly suffered some heat dryness. I left with a bob and looking like a member of the Addams family. The cut WAS clean. She did use hair spray at the end. Just be warned there is a language barrier! I would definitely recommend if you have thick curly hair and want a blow out. My...
