My husband, Kelly and I were looking for a pontoon we both could both be wowed by. At first we thought we would have to settle for a used boat. They were all overpriced or not what we wanted. Kelly and I looked at hundreds of boats, then found this beautiful boat in our price range at American Anchor website. Unfortunately, it was Saturday and I was convinced it would be gone by Monday. My husband left an email saying we wanted that boat but we also needed several other items. Tim D. Called us right back after hours on a Saturday and basically took our order and said it was ours. Tim and his staff have been so nice and accommodating with our wants. Kelly has called a few more times adding to our boat needs before we pick it up. Tim always calls us back and arranges for it to be done, and makes sure that the timeline is acceptable to us. We have purchased several boats in the past, but this purchase has by far been the best experience we have had and we feel our new beautiful boat has everything we want on it thanks to the folks at American Anchor.

Went here for winterization and shrink wrap for my pontoon boat. When I went to pick it up the price had increased by one third from the quote given when I made the appointment. I asked them to honor the quote there response was to remove the shrink wrap. This place is terrible for customer service.

The response to my rating is grossly dishonest and misleading. Come on guys, this is what I get for buying a brand new boat from you? Really? Here’s reality:

  1. I absolutely asked for the batteries (both) to be installed inside a proper case. Two battery casings can in fact fit EASILY in the locker space. One battery was left outside a casing only in a tray. On my own shakedown cruise , the battery was DRENCHED. Furthermore the battery sits right below the live well and gets drenched whenever I use the livewell! In addition to this, the battery that was “installed” inside a battery case was never secured to the boat! The battery ended up tipping when under way! Plain lazy install on everything- even throttle assembly! but mistakes happen I get that and I offered them multiple opportunities to fix- and as you can see from their response, their workplace culture didn’t allow for them to acknowledge otherwise minor issues and just fix them. Instead they wanted to argue and yell at me on the phone. Nice.
  2. I also clearly said, twice, for the perko switch to be installed inside the aft locker space OFF THE FLOOR - I said it at least twice. Battery cable leads and switch leads should NOT be placed on floor if ever avoidable, on ANY boat you’re just asking for trouble and additional service costs. I double checked my thought with other experts who agreed so it isn’t just me. The volume of water draining through aft locker on pontoons like this, from both waves and rain does in fact SOAK the switch; it's like they put it in the worst possible spot, lol. This was amplified by the fact that directly above where they put the switch is a live well; if the livewell overfills, the water drains through the cup holders and holes in aft locker, directly onto the battery switch and the uncovered battery come on guys really!? - totally unacceptable quality of service. How is this even a debate? I opened up the casing of the battery switch and as I said (and have experienced /learned before from seeing bad installs on other vessels), if moisture directly touches the casing it flows to the top, water gets directly on the leads- moisture conductivity and different metals they used will also cause higher than usual corrosion (galvanic). Again, I detached the switch and LOOKED- the leads were SOAKED and needed to be redone properly. and finally, I had this guy on speaker phone after he interrupted me on the call for the 3rd or 4th time, so others in the room where I was at could hear this. Their response below is just not accurate. Others listening (including my spouse) couldn't believe I didn't just tell the guy off after five minutes into the call this guy was way out of line. He’s mad at me that he made poor management (mis) decisions- one thing in their response that was true, is I changed the delivery day of the boat multiple times- because temperatures in April were unseasonably low and below freezing so I couldn't have them put the boat in the water in sub freezing temperatures-so how is he complaining about that? If someone buys a boat brand new and you commit to delivery service- isn't this just regular part of the business and you need to amp up capacity at peak times? this guy said it be over a MONTH possibly 6 weeks out if I pushed back delivery again due to stormy weather on delivery day- Looking back, I shouldn't have even accepted delivery of the boat when that guy said that and should have just cancelled the purchase before accepting boat as a proper delivery/post transport survey couldn't be completed properly; If they can't manage peak season surge capacity in their services- then that's on them- I should have just rejected the delivery and not signed. Then calling his customer a child for pushing back in the slightest just gravy I guess. My characterization of him acting like a "D*" is more than fair. ...

We purchased a floor model Cypress Cay Sea Breeze pontoon in late 2019 at a very reasonable season close out price from Chris Derks. American Anchor had the best value pricing of all the dealers we looked at (...and we are out of the Kalamazoo area). Chris accomodated our request to pickup the boat for seasonal storage elsewhere in October 2019 plus a request to title and register the boat in March 2020.

High marks to Chris and his co-workers for 100% meeting our needs and excellent followup in March 2020 when the title and completed registration w/MC numbers showed up in the mail.

Chris gave us a complete run through of the break-in procedure and made sure our questions were answered completely. We did not request an in-water orientation, but I'm sure American Anchor would've done that.

Do yourself a favor and give American Anchor a chance to do business with...
